Specialised Venge bottom bracket

Hi,
I'm interested in buying a Venge.
The bike would run a Campy groupset.
However I've spoken to one owner who stated he's frustrated by inability to remove a bottom bracket creak. Not sure if he uses Shimano or Sram.
That could be a one off however a bike mechanic I know has stated the Specialised BB design means you need to run an adapter to make anything accept the Specialised bottom bracket fit.
I'd be interest to hear from anyone who owns a Venge (esp. someone running Campy) and can let me know about their own experiences.
Thanks

Hi 42 16ss, I've read a bit of that thread over last few weeks.
I'm more interested in owners experiences with the Specialised BB rather than "Halo" bikes and their value {or lack thereof :) }
Thanks,

Thanks,

They run the OSBB which is the same as bb30. The adapter should salve the noise since it gets campys bb cups and not the bb30 bearing which require you to locktite them in if you follow what specialized says to get rid of the squeak. AND don't listen to anyone here about the venge, it's your bike not there's....

How did you dare asking such a question?
Did you know that people here ride only limited edition Ernesto gold/scandium bikes, tested by Pope itself and with Ernesto hair sealed in seat tube for ever.
Just get that bike with stripes if possible, at least you will have a ride of WC and not some Italian doped rider.
In short, who cares what middle aged, unemployed hipsters from Arkansas think, they are just jealous.
Of course I do not have a clue about Venge BB:D

Sorry folks that how it is;)

Yep, the gods of correctness on this forum will point and laugh. I'm sure you'll soon having multiple pages of derisive comments from those graced with knowledge of what you SHOULD be riding (or wearing, or drinking, etc).

It surely gets old but these people (you know who you are) just can't help but point out how much more enlightened they are than you.

I ride/rode a special-Ed. It was OK. Then again, it is sitting 5 feet from me, disassembled, with 4 different warranty issues, the last if which I think they will finally honor.

You know, someone mocking your brand of choice (and in this case me poking fun at myself) is one of those things in life that is really silly to get worked up about. This amuses me because people are deeply loyal to a corporate brand, failing to realize the company really gives little to no ****s about their customers; all of us are just cash pinatas they are hoping to whack every few years.

Completely off topic, the lot of ya! 11 posts in all, deleted because all of you wanted to squabble. Take a deep breath, .......relax. If you don't have anything to add about a creaky Venge BB, don't bother posting.

Thank you RDV, mods are often a little light here (which I like, and do for another forum) but sometimes...

Anyway, anyone have an opinion on if this is this a Venge issue or more likely a BB30 issue?

(for my personal education)

It's a BB30 issue. Squeaky adapter cups forced me to return a BMC Race Machine. I never tried the FSA threaded BB30 adapter, probably the better solution, it just happens to be more permanent. If money isn't an issue, I would get a Cannondale Hollowgram crankset w/ the 135 BCD spider and use Campy Chainrings. Otherwise, FSA threaded adapter might be your next choice.

For reference.

Thanks Parera, much appreciated.

I had not checked the thread for a few days. Seems I missed all the excitement . . . .

Anyone have any experience with a Specialised BB or a BB30?

Don't take my word for it. I think I'm in the minority of users for the Campagnolo adapter cups when it comes to nagging squeaks/creaky bottom bracket. It will probably work, just be warned before you make any kind of concrete financial commitment to a particular frame; you might end up with a headache if you insist on running Campagnolo cranks on a BB30 system.

In my opinion, if you're going to commit that level of money to something you should be 100% satisfied with your purchase. I wasn't, the frame was easy to return, problem solved.

Good luck with whatever you might end up choosing. Personally, tired of looking for road bikes. Think I'm just going to get a Desalvo and be done with the restlessness surrounding this stupid obsession.
