Oh, for the love of god, why? How could anyone possibly stand to have these hideous abominations on their bike? And why do editors of cycling websites allow such offensive photographs?

Yep. A if certain % of the 'manufacturing process' is done in the 'home' country they are entitled to label it 'Made in....'. Spraying a frame and applying a few stickers is apparently enough

Only the highend Colnagos are made in Italy. Rest are Taiwan/China.

Cipollini claim to be 100% Made in italy.

Thanks for that. The red black I'm using is from new [ 7 months old]
The last red I tuned lasted 3 years just wore out.
I do check over my bike " i'm a bit obsessed"
My friend who rides Campy record had that exact thing happen.
It was a brand new mech, just had a few rides and it snapped ,virtually in half and went into his wheel and scratched up his handmade custom Viner.
It took ages for campy to sort out a replacement so he had to buy a new rear mech so he could ride while waiting for campy to sort the issue out.
He got the group-set from a well known shop and IMO he should have been given a replacement straight away. The thing was in half. Very poor service.

That's not the exact thing. I'd bet that the Campy mech went into the wheel because it was poorly adjusted. It broke because it went in the spokes, not the other way around. That's clearly not the same thing as a mech wearing out, getting sloppy and "drifting" into the spokes.

Ironically, the build quality of the entire range improved markedly when Colnago did this too...

The C60s are made in Italy and the build quality is better than the rest of their frames.

In person or online? The 'shop'?

Maybe not 'straight away' as this is very rare, like almost unheard of and limit screws, der hanger alignment, are the most common causes of this. Not manufacturing defects.

+1. "I was just riding along and my derailleur broke. Give me a new one." Yeah, right .

As it should be for such a flagship frame. When Colnago sent the lower and mid spec production off shore, they did a better job than Colnago while the high end production in Italy improved because that was all they had to focus on.

One of the best decisions that the brand has made IMO.

He got the groupset from a shop,
My Friend is also a bike mechanic so no fault in the setting up.

The mech snapped in half it cracked right along the carbon. Inline with the d letter of record.
It was a manufacturing fault and like stated, campy did replace the mech but it took far to long.

A company that warranties little, particularly when compared to a company that will warranty 'anything for any reason at any time'(guess who?), not surprised they wanted to be certain it was a defect.

You could clearly see that it was a fault. I understand that Campy would want to inspect it but it was an obvious failure and IMO he should have not had to buy a replacement so he could carry on using his bike. It was his custom hand made Viner that he went to the factory in Italy to see it getting made.
There was no skimping about the build either. Record all the way. That's a lot of ker-ching for a bike.
I had a similar experience with zipp carbon bars. They were just a few months old and they snapped. Luckily the bar tape saved me from a disaster but it took nearly 5 months and a lot of hassle to get a replacement.
There is a pretty nice mark up on the carbon bits. Most is now all made in Asia and its way overpriced. I just picked up a 89grm stem 120mm, -17 degree's for £21 posted. That's crazy. A stem at that weight by ax lightness would cost you £500 or so ...Bonkers.

My old LBS (I relocated so no longer near the shop) pretty much covered faulty or broken equipment by providing loaner equipment until he heard back from his supplier. That is why I bought most of my stuff and some servicing there.

I have yet to establish such a supplier in my new location.

As noted above and what I did when owning a shop, is provide a replacement something so the gent could ride. I don't fault Campagnolo for wanting to examine this very rare failure nor the time it took to do it. When you called sp(r)am, told them a Force lever broke(imagine that)..they said, a new set of red, on the way!! Plus a chain to offset the labor. Same with rear ders, BBs.

BUT a Campagnolo rear der body breaking is unusual to say the least.
