Oh, for the love of god, why? How could anyone possibly stand to have these hideous abominations on their bike? And why do editors of cycling websites allow such offensive photographs?

Only the highend Colnagos are made in Italy. Rest are Taiwan/China.

The last red I tuned lasted 3 years just wore out.
I do check over my bike " i'm a bit obsessed"
My friend who rides Campy record had that exact thing happen.
It was a brand new mech, just had a few rides and it snapped ,virtually in half and went into his wheel and scratched up his handmade custom Viner.
It took ages for campy to sort out a replacement so he had to buy a new rear mech so he could ride while waiting for campy to sort the issue out.
He got the group-set from a well known shop and IMO he should have been given a replacement straight away. The thing was in half. Very poor service.

AFAIK they are. Cipollini has no problem with charging extra in order to "protect" his brand. He has a lot of input in the design, marketing etc and probably wants to be able to oversee the production if he chooses.simo1733 said:Cipollini claim to be 100% Made in italy.

Maybe not 'straight away' as this is very rare, like almost unheard of and limit screws, der hanger alignment, are the most common causes of this. Not manufacturing defects.

My Friend is also a bike mechanic so no fault in the setting up.
The mech snapped in half it cracked right along the carbon. Inline with the d letter of record.
It was a manufacturing fault and like stated, campy did replace the mech but it took far to long.
Bustedknuckle said:A company that warranties little, particularly when compared to a company that will warranty 'anything for any reason at any time'(guess who?), not surprised they wanted to be certain it was a defect.
ray j willings said:You could clearly see that it was a fault. I understand that Campy would want to inspect it but it was an obvious failure and IMO he should have not had to buy a replacement so he could carry on using his bike. It was his custom hand made Viner that he went to the factory in Italy to see it getting made.
There was no skimping about the build either. Record all the way. That's a lot of ker-ching for a bike.
I had a similar experience with zipp carbon bars. They were just a few months old and they snapped. Luckily the bar tape saved me from a disaster but it took nearly 5 months and a lot of hassle to get a replacement.
There is a pretty nice mark up on the carbon bits. Most is now all made in Asia and its way overpriced. I just picked up a 89grm stem 120mm, -17 degree's for £21 posted. That's crazy. A stem at that weight by ax lightness would cost you £500 or so ...Bonkers.
