I have a suggestion to all you people going "It's totally safe!"
Why don't you go riding it yourselves? Coz it sure didn't look 'totally safe' to me up there (it might be again though).

It was wrong of the organisers trying to neutralise it; not because it wasn't at least somewhat needed, but because if you want to neutralise a stage you need to make sure everybody gets the message.

...Lol

I have rode many roads and that was safe. Please, spare me. Only now that cycling has become a corporate business riders integrity has also become so important.

Seriously though, that's an epic fail by whoever released the wrong information, but unless it was also on the race radio (and at least on Spanish Eurosport they're saying it wasn't) or they got the info directly from the race directors, it was stupid for anyone to not follow the group on the descent.

yiu are an idiot to think a downhil in full race can be neutralised, if uran etc truly let go the descend they deserve this

what a mess...

but surely teams have been notified via race radio?

100%

wrong communication to spectators doesn't mean there wasn't the correct information relayed to teams at a reasonable time.

most of the teams have clearly been racing the descent. we'll find out afterwards who wants to make a fuss though. I'm guessing OPQS will regardless since they were already unhappy before the stage.

Typical joke organisation by RCS, thought neutralisation would be a good idea without even working out how they would do it so then had to pretend they never decided it.

Pretty much this.

RCS: "descent is neutralised"
some riders racing hard anyways
RCS: "oh we didnt mean it anyways - race on!"
GC riders minutes back: "WTF!!!!"

Very unorganized they ruin the stage possibly with this false information ruined so who wants to see Quintana gain time like this! At least the French run a proper race

Give me the top GC-riders salary and I will happily do it

It must have been on the radio cos Tinkoff-Saxo tweeted that the organisers had neutralized the descent
On Twitter. Their source could have been the Giro's Twitter feed.

If there's confusion, you follow the other contenders just in case. If you don't, well yeah, screw up by RCS, but ultimately it's your own fault.
