Chapeau Froome, and credit to Alberto on getting his stage win. Wish he'd have worked with Froome to put more time into Valverde but never mind.

Hardly epic. Contador doing no work and jumping away for the stage.

Credit to Froome who actually commits to an attack.

Form is temporary, class is permanent and Alberto is all class. He is the best climber and Gt rider and despite his injury he has shown again that he is simply the best.

Get over yourself. His injury was vastly exaggerated. J-rod had a worse crash in the giro and Froome has crashed three times since before the Dauphine. It's not like his rivals are in that good shape.

So looks like Contador was right to fear Froome more than Valverde or Rodriguez.

I'm happy with 53 seconds. :)

Another tough ride from Dan Martin. He looked in trouble early on the climb, but finished just a handful of seconds behind Aru.

If Contador had gone to the front and done anything other than what Froome's limit was, he probably wouldn't have followed him anyway. Was better for both to let Froome set his own tempo.

Sheesh. When did Contador turn into stronger version of Valverde? Sucking wheel for entire climb and sprinting in last km

Froome had to do something and today he showed a bit of strenght. And Alberto acted like the Tourmalet-stage in 2010 but were in more needs of seconds so no gifts this time.

Froome did not want Contador to work with him. He was trying to drop Contador, he was trying to ride him off his wheel. He was challenging Contador to stay on his wheel. Contador was up to the challenge and much more.

Even though I'll never be a fan, I'm getting more respect for Froome.

I'm super happy for Contador that he can fulfill his promise of going for stage wins in the third week though, **** yeah

Froome deserved better, but he's done the best he could under the circumstances where he has to put time into Valverde and Purito before even thinking about Contador, so should be happy with what he's achieved.

Contador did what he should. Froome cannot crack him, obviously.
Froome created the race today though and thanks for that!

Absolutely great race by Froome. Not in top shape and attacking from 4km out? The man has ball.s. Contador a lot stronger, but I hated how he wheelsucked. Seriously, with having so much power in legs just attack earlier, take pulls, or just increase the tempo to drop Froome. Sitting in his wheel until final km and then attacking? Classless

Please stop the fanboyism. Contador had no reason to take some pulls. Plus he was undoubtedly stronger than Froome.

Same here. Froome's clearly miles from top form, but is still trying his best to limit his losses on bad stages, and attack when he has the chance. Now he will finish above Valverde and Rodriguez on the podium.
