Quite strong tailwind in the final if the prediction is accurate. Does tailwind matter that much above 10 % ?

Whats the chance anybody from the GC will do something before the last climb? 0,1%.

Sky will set the pace up the last climb, then Froome goes with Contador on his wheel. Maybe Froome will play the tactics better in the final 2km and win the stage. We shall see.

The others will not be a factor.

4. Valverde +1'20"
5. Purito +1'25"
6. Barguil +1'45"

I don't ever root for AC, but other than his dorky pistol salute he is all class. Here he shows it. He stays on Froome's wheel all the way. He will choose not to come around because he has his stage and la vuelta in the bag.

There is time bonuses + AC just wouldn't gift anything to Froome. If AC and Froome are together in the final AC will try to take the stage win.

Profile of the penultimate climb.

Cataldo crashing could hurt Froome's chances tomorrow

Aru to win with 5 min and secure the gc.

:p

No remember, Aru respects AC to much. :p He is going to let him have the win this year. It's next year where he won't give any gifts.

they're climbing it from the opposite side, which is much more harder & longer so...

Not really the opposite side.

In 2011 they did the full climb over the green road (C) and went through the summit descending over the orange road (A)

In 2012 they did the climb over the green road but the finish was placed at the point where it joins the dark blue (B) and the red road (D), almost 2.5kms before and 200m below the summit.

Tomorrow they'll do the green + red road and will finish at the summit.

Yes. He has to due to the TT remaining. Can't take any chances.

also wow, samu will finish 6th zubeldia style!

Monfort has GPCaruso 15s ahead and Pardilla 23s behind. That'll be a nasty battle for the 15th place :D

if froome's power meter malfunctions (or something like that), he will finish in the top 10 at best...:)

if seriously, provided there will be no miracles and/or accidents this is alberto's stage - fits his style, is perfectly consistent with the last climb where he dropped the dawg, plus the tactical advantage. that is, the dawg has to attack from sufficiently far away to gain enough time to cover the deficit before the short itt.

Predictions jens style:

1. Froome
2. Contador +'51
3. Aru +1'28
4. Rodriguez +1'56
5. Valverde +2'14

:p

If Froome was in good form he could probably put that and another minute or two into Contador but he has not shown anywhere near that form yet. Yes he did drop Contador in stage 18 and without Purito and Valverde Contador would have likely lost another 20-40 seconds but that was just one day and they have both traded off each beating the other each beating the other 3 times on climbs. Tomorrow could be Contador's day.

I see Contador being pretty attentive tomorrow and sticking to Froome's wheel until the end. Sort of like he did to a stronger Schleck in 2010 sucking his wheel all the way up the last climb. But if Froome does drop Contador early and Contador does not get saved by others pulling him up the climb its possible he could put big time on him. But then again it's just as likely that Contador drops Froome and puts big time on him

Would like to see Aru make the podium. But MTFs usually dont produce that kind of a gap.

Yes me too. But he would need 1'45" on Piti and 45" on Purito

Any news on Cataldo's injury after today's crash? Froome will need an insane pace if he wants to drop Contador early on the climb

I don't think so. If I judge AC's character right, AC will concede 4 bonus seconds to Froome and not worry about losing in the TT. Assuming Froome works the last few kilometers pulling just Contador.
