I hate that the sport is not about sports but about money money and some more money
It's called professional sports... it's not like these guys are engaged in intrinsically productive activity so the economic value has to come from somewhere, and that's your attention.

Also the wearing of some corporate jerseys is not the bad part. It's the fact that sports are rapidly becoming just a substrate for gambling. On this forum people mostly worry about clinical matters. Every other sport, the fans fret about match fixing.

But then again: what is he doing? Why attack on a flat mountain more than 2k from the top when you want to reach the other dots afterwards and it's a 4 man group? Seems not ideal to me.
Oh you're right, especially when we now see his sprint was good enough anyways. But I think the group knows they have no chance of staying away: Alpecin not only want to keep MVDP in yellow but also give him a chance at a stage win, and there will be GC action as well. They would have needed to be up 5 minutes at this point to stay away.

I’ve seen plenty of commentators in the past, saying a break with Asgreen is not staying away - the truth is none of us ever know, because some days the dude just refuses to get caught.

History tells me Asgreen has a chance, the others not so much.

Well, I would be thrilled to see him stay away. But those other instances were more likely flattish stages where the sprint teams were responsible to bring him back. Here we have 4 climbs in the last 30 kms that suit the puncheurs and GC contenders, and it's still early in the race when everything is up for grabs.
