Because they can't mess with Pogacar on the road. They do these little things to annoy him.
It's like mosquitos at night, they try to drink our blood and they can't but they don't leave and do that stupid noise until we spank them because we are sick of them.
Pogacar will spank them on Hautacam.
Alpecin has nothing.. That was it..Visma made the decision not to contest.. Movistar, Trek, had lots of reasons to do @5-10 minutes here or there.. Everyone knows that typical tactics for UAE is to keep tempo high and rely on paid for pedigree of riders that last longer. It's like going to the store and buying batteries, 3,4 different price points and you normally get what you pay for..
EF has to be in the bus discussing how much they have left Powless, Healy, Simmons, good play today to try for something.. Tudor probably happy Michael Storer had a good day..
Don't know if Picnic had a card to waste, saving energy for protection of Onley is a good looking bet..Bora afraid to do anything on offense.. They take all their cues from other controlling teams, lackluster.

But you love UAE? Weird, because I see 2 dominant teams doing dominant team s**t, it's just the team that is dominant has changed.
I think UAE is a clown show when it comes to management so I don't like the team.
I like two riders there: Pogacar and Almeida.
I don't like dirty desperate moves like the one Visma tried to pull today.

I very much doubt JV pullled on the final climb to put Pogacar in yellow. Pretty sure it was to test the legs of the opponents to see if anyone had a bad day. Its a game of seconds.

If Pog takes yellow tomorrow it will be no bother for UAE to control the rest of the race.

Stage 8 & 9 are flat sprint stages
10 is a mountain stage followed by a rest day
11 & 12 they will have to control
13 ITT - rest for everyone except Pog and Almedia
14 GC Mountain day they will control
15 breakaway day
Rest Day
16 Mountain Stage
17 Flat Sprint
18 & 19 Mountain Stages
By then it will be all over

So they don't really have more than 2 days in a row that they have to ride hard to control.

"Don't push on the front to keep the leader in yellow despite his protestations and irritation" is pointedly NOT an unwritten rule.
True, but it just looks desperate. No other team did this. Why didn't Remco do this?
I'm pretty sure that Rabobank is the least liked team in the Peloton.

As if it also isn't mind games to say the competing team is such a bad team that the only thing they can do is to try to keep you in yellow :joycat:

They do mind games all the time! Pog does it too!

This is like hating Ineos still because Froome was once dominating. Visma hasn't really dominated anything for 2 years.

He doesn't have the team or the energy. He's also not a former Tour winner trying to do anything to weaken Pog. He's focused on his own race.

I don't get the issue with a team being aggressive and pushing on the leader. In fact, I'm all in favor of it. Let's see some animosity. Let's see some aggression. Glad we have a team willing to poke the bear.

I am not talking about dominance. Alpecin is the most dominant team in the classics.
Visma's arrogance is what I can't stand.

It's telling that even Visma can't keep Pogi in yellow and out of love to each other they surely tried.

Well "unwritten rules" are obviously unwritten so that people can create whatever rules they want and claim that they are unwritten.
Cycling is driven by these unwritten rules. You break them and the Peloton brakes you. This is not like other sports.
And the riders know the rules well.
