Yea, Sella was in the fight for mountains points. Unfortunately for him, Tonti already had a bunch, so he was more riding to protect his teammate's lead, rather than going ballistic in 2008 style...

How did Rabo manage to phuck this up? Unbelievable.

edit: Ah, Rabosport mentions how the race unfolded. It's not as bad as I thought.

What was their excuse (I'm sure it's in Dutch)? I mean, they had 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 6th on GC!

You can hardly expect guys like Graeme Brown and Jos van Emden to do well in this kind of stage. They had two riders in the break, Weening and Kruijswijk, but when six riders escaped Weening was forced to do all the work. He managed to reduce the gap on the finishing climb, but obviously not enough.

Rabo had to do the work on two fronts, and well, apparently they couldn't. Would have been a different story if Boom and Langeveld were in the break, but such a break would never have happened.

It's not fantastic, but it's forgivable, I guess.

Downing seemed to have the legs to win that one, Maybe Henderson can repay him later in the year by doing some lead outs.
