why? roubaix has as much to do with this race as a TDF mountain stage has to do with a dutch echelon stage

The sterrato is really uncomparable with cobbles. It's more of a normal hilly race than anything else.

I would consider RVV hilly.
That has cobbles.

@netserk: oh I dunno, Cancellara won this thing called the Tour de Suisse, yeah they scrapped the mountains, but kept the hills. Also a thing called the Tirreno Adriatico with in it the Montelupone, but yeah, does a 20% steep thing really count as a hill? Guess not..
Nope, Cancellara never won a hilly race or stage race

well he won those stage races by defending on the hills and winning thanks to the ITT right?
What about one-day races?
Anyway, personally I think the SB is an hybrid between RVV and AGR. It's neither of them though. And yes, sterrato is no cobbles, just as much as it is no tarmac.

Sterrato needs none of the qualities you need on cobbled. Much more the qualities you need in downhills tho

There are similarities.
Riders have to be able to tolerate the stress that surface brings, and to know how to save the equipment.

What about Valverde?
I think he can podium.

Since the last climb is very steep, the final suits him very well. He is not a gravel and cobble-rider, but he is definitely a better all-rounder than most of the real climbers.

Ain't that always how it is, when we want good weather it's bad to the point the race gets canceled or altered, when we want bad weather it's nice and sunny.

By the same logic, Contador is good on cobbles because he won a stage race including them. And the same for sterrato.

So Strade Bianche is just a normal hilly race, yet the only normal hilly race Cancellara have ever won, which he won twice (No, I don't consider M-SR or RVV normal hilly races).
