Seems not good to use them in combination with insulin.

What would use the poor riders to fight with the wealthier riders able to afford expensive doping programs?

Oh, and Amgen, really, really wants doctors to prescribe Aranesp:

Also on Friday, the New York Attorney General's office said it and 15 states were suing Amgen, claiming the company gave kickbacks and weekend retreats to medical providers to help boost Aranesp sales, and encouraged them to bill third parties, including Medicaid, even though the drug was available to them at no cost.

May have something to do with amount of EPO in the marketplace..

Risk vs Reward

For the patient, their is always a tradeoff between risk and reward.

Pretty much all drugs have side effects to be considered. It all comes
down to a personal choice between a patient and their Doctor.

A stroke occurs when blood supply to a portion of the brain is interrupted. There are two types of strokes: clot strokes and bleed strokes. Clot strokes occur when a blood clot occludes a blood vessel in the brain. A bleed stroke occurs when blood leaks from a damaged vessel into the brain tissue itself.

Any drug that changes the viscosity of the blood will increase the risk of one of these two types of stroke in the blood values are normal prior to administration of the drug.

More to come later...

Yeah, I don't see the point of a study when this is all pretty obvious..
