Cause Olympics like to be weird (for a lot of sports).

This is why the Olympics will never be as prestigeful as the top UCI races. Cycling is a team sport and having the best only with half teams and many riding alone will is simply not a serious race. It's a crapshoot.

And international level will surely have either crashes or near misses that will make everything exciting!! When you get a coaches pick everyone says you stole something or were gifted something, you are an insider!! Most people would be happy if Richard Carapaz would have got the nod from federation and staff..so mistakes happen!!
