Super Fighter's Prize

I figured that since we have a thread about virtually every other classification in this race why not this one as well?

For a while I thought Hoogerland should get it. You know, just because he's epic and actually went into the breakaways lately (with varying success). But after today I gotta say I think Voeckler should get it!

I think Delage will get it. Not because he's French or anything but because he got 122 (I think, with all the penalties it's hard to tell) points in the green jersey competition.

And each one of them from intermediate sprints

Voeckler probably will win, but he was in a position where he didn't so much attack as held on.

i'd like Contador to win. when he had the legs, he attacked and went for it. he animated this TdF more than anybody. he was the game-changer, imo.

Roy, Perez and Delage are really the only candidates. I could include Hushovd, but he's had plenty of reward this Tour.

I'd pick Roy, because he got very close to a stage win but was denied.

I think it will go to Delage or Roy for their breakaway efforts but it should be Voeckler.

Rubén Pérez always gets into lots of attacks, but it always seems to be relatively large ones, he goes under the radar compared to other frequent attackers. For my money Roy should get it; not only was he going in lots of breaks but he was also going solo, attacking many times.

Maybe Delage should get it since Roy and Hoogerland got to hold jerseys though.

And for riding on with all those wounds. He got a lot of press for that so i think they will honour it.
i have total respect for him riding hurt and always enjoy his attacks immensely. i think there's a good chance he would have won this if he hadn't been side-swiped by a car (or Flecha, who was side-swiped, if you want to get nit-picky).

but to give it to him for riding with injuries??? you may be right, but it seems kind of rude to me and belittles what happened, pandering to the press... then again, he lost a lot of air time in breakaways for him and his team. so maybe he/they will consider it just compensation as far as press goes.

i still can't believe that happened!

Well Delage has won the Prix de la Combativitie for two stages, so I guess he will take the overall prize.

what is annoying tho is that the first time delage won hoogie should have won

The single stages don't mean anything. The current system has been in place since 2003 and the winners and their stage success.

2003 Vinokourov no stage awards. Frederic Finot and Andy Flickinger won twice and several others once.
2004 Virenque one stage award. Piil (DNF), Voigt and Rasmussen two stage awards
2005 Pereiro two stage awards, no one else had two.
2006 de la Fuente two stage awards, no one else had two.
2007 Txurruka one stage award, no one had two.
2008 Chavanel three stage awards, Vogondy two.
2009 Pellizotti two stage awards, no one else had two.
2010 Chavanel one stage award, Aerts had two.

Anyway, I would choose Jeremy Roy as the winner. Perez and Hoogerland as the best challengers.
