Surprised Gesink has not got more votes...

Course suits him down to the "T" and I personally think that the tt will suit him well especially as it has climbing in it but if he has a tt peformance in the tds tt...

Basso appears to be quite overrated... he wins a Giro in which his only real opponents are Michele Scarponi and a teammate, and suddenly he's so much stronger than all of these guys, most of whom he couldn't keep up with in the races he did outside this year's Giro (for instance, last year's Vuelta)? I don't think so.

Sure, he'll be a contender, but I don't see why he should be rated so much higher than Menchov or SamSan.

Voted Gesink based on dutch pride ofcourse. Allthough it really isn't that unlikely. If he's in topform he should be able to compete with Samu Sanchez and Menchov which are normally the other favourites based on last years TdF.

Basso is possible, allthough I agree with theyoungest that I think he's a bit overrated atm.

Menchov should be a favourite, but I expect him to fail in the next TdF. He always does that. So he'll probably be riding for the win in the Vuelta.

This means Sammy has the biggest chance.... Not that it matters since this is purely hypothetical, but it's fun and keeps us busy during these horrendous months without cycling :)

I agree, but i think people are voting for him hoping he will be on 06 form. If hes on Giro 10 form, i dont see it, because what Basso gets out of Samu and Menchov on Alpe and Galibier (if anything), Samu takes out back on maybe a a descent or a tt and Menchov in a tt.

Basso might get a nice 50 seconds on them (if hes lucky) in the tt though.

basso would probably only best guys like menchov and samu on really steep climbs, and I don't see enough in the tour parcours to suggest this will happen. (And I suspect they'd limit their loses...)

I agree the field wasn't mind blowing at the giro. But he was in better form at this year's giro (+ the course suited him/benefited a strong team a also) then the 09 GTs.

Basso will win if he only does the Tour....Contador may get a ban. Its all Schleck's (not a fan) with neither of those two around.

If Schleck and Contador dont ride the TDF this year than Ritchie Porte will win...None of the mentioned riders in the poll will win this year...It will be a two horse race no matter what.(Contador v,s Schleck)
