He's cold weather merchant so I'm sure he could do it on a cold rainy Tuesday night against Stoke.Could he do it on a cold day in the Tour of Britain though?
With Pogačar you‘ve got to ask for the warm day, even if it breaks the joke.Could he do it on a cold day in the Tour of Britain though?
Don't use the term Greatest Of All Time lightly. Maybe in five or ten years. But now it's still too early. Won't even mention the obvious Belgian guy.
Eat some of those tasty looking flandrian fried chips, more than deserved, but please don't forget the main course comes in July Tadej!
peak Balarcon lost to Babyface at the 2017 Vuelta Madrid though, so he is the actual GOAT.The real question is whether he could do it on a hot day in the Volta. My guess? No. He will never beat peak Balarcon, the true greatest rider of all time.

You're right and I also fear of him being fed up, that's precisely the reason why I'm not overconfidant in his July form. Not necessarily, he built a monstrous larger-mass peak for this race. At the Tour he will prepare a lower-mass peak and IMO he treats both equally seriously. If he is fed up with GTs he may even become a one-day specialist!

But right now, this still counts as an away victory and he has to reclaim his home terrain win in GT.
Actually he's relatively less at home at the tour compared to Jonas, so one might argue that's he's always playing on away terrain, but looking at today, there might come a time, when it will be considered everywhere is his home terrain.
One of the questions is how exactly is he able to swim against the currents of specialisation? He has some anaerobic capacity & punch, but is not hampered too much by it in GTs. And at the same time he has such a superior aerobic capacity and thus endurance that he can break MVDPs and WVAs from far away in hard classics. Because cycling is an aerobic sport, dammit, the latter is of course more important.
But for the past 30yrs this has not really been the case save for a couple exceptions, but Pogi does it frequently. So, how can some riders become aerobically dominant again: genes? training? wrong subforum?

Liège is three weeks out. Plenty of time for rest, both before and after.Keep in mind ridiculous performances that lead to his Tour 2020 and 2021 victories. He's a stage-race monster, make no mistake. Obviously Vinge proved to be super strong and can with the Tour again...or not. We will see.
I'm not even sure Pog should go to LBL now having achieved his biggest spring goal. Obviously normally he would be the favourite but he'll likely be past his peak there and I think that even more rest may be needed when thinking about his next big goal (TdF). He went really deep today.
Wasn't he also going to do the 3 upcoming races? Or did I read that wrong some time ago.Liège is three weeks out. Plenty of time for rest, both before and after.
