Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

The contemporary version of this race is who drops the watt bomb and when determines who shall win. Pogi is particularly strong right now. He can gap on the poggio and stay away, he wins. Mvp shows ready and doesn’t get gapped, he drops his own watt bomb at the same point as last year. Unless pog and mvp are not in good position I don’t see anyone else with a chance
You never know with this race. I mean who would've thought Mohoric would win, and why wouldn't he replicate that again. Or Stuyven.
There are so much scenarios which could play in this race. Yeah, Pogacar and Van Der Poel are certainly the biggest favorites and probably will be the strongest on the Poggio, but only couple of seconds of hesitation and others are back.

It's the best chance for Pogi yet, as MVDP will be in his first road race and WVA is missing.

These two managed to join Ganna in chasing Pogacar. The smaller the group, the harder it will be to hold the Slovenian. Just like MVDP dropped in RVV.

UAE must impose a relentless pace, a pace so hard it puts the peloton hanging by a thread.

pogacar is an alien. I still couldn't believe that last year at the tour he improved on longer climbs while breaking his hand 2 months before the race. He is the only human who could improve his level after breaking his bones 2 months before a race. Its bonkers! he lost the tour coz he didn't have enough base to attack for 3 weeks.

Pog will not have any special power bomb compared to 2023, he worked mostly on endurance and long climbs this winter, last year at this time he weighed 67 kg and this time 65, his only chance is to be a tailwind on Cippresa and Poggio and that Mcnulty breaks the peloton to 20-30 people on Cippresa and leads all the way to Poggio when Wellens takes over 1.5 km full throttle and then Pog attacks km to the finish on an 8-9% gradient in those 100m, but for something like that you need a very strong pace in the last 50km of the race
Mostly endurance training you say, so zone 2?

Pog is the only man on the planet for whom Almeida is ready to pull, they are good friends and you will see that already in Catalonia and Liege, so in the future you can expect him more as Pog's right hand than a serious GC threat, I can't digest that Ayuso, he has that something slimy in him, you can really see that he is jealous of Pog, he very rarely congratulates him on his victory, he avoids all possible races where he should be Pog's helper, like the Giro Emilia 2023 when he gave up halfway through the race or was now registered for Strada and retired 3 days early, very bad vibe

zone 2 is not bad, but it's bad if you only do that and nothing else, and now Pog training also has intervals, 4*4min, 40-20sec, 30-15sec, 2*2min, 20min, it has a proper plan for altitude, while before it was zone 2 and a 15 min FTP interval, he didn't do heat training before, now he's working on TT optimization, 5-6 new staff have been introduced in training, that's like you, my old friend, if you drove a Fiat Bravo until now and then you bought a new BMW 5

I knew you had some hidden praise for Almeida that you didn't want to share :p After all, pulling for Poga is a huge step up from pulling for Gaudu.

I really hope Poga destroys the fisherman this year. LET'S GO!

His best chance is that Pederson or someone of that calibre is chasing behind him and Van Der Poel after the Poggio and he can sit on. But he will unfortunately work with him because these kids are too proud to use effective cycling tactics and subsequently deserve everything he gets.

@mou does Pogacar not do any altitude training before the Giro? He will only go to altitude between giro and tour?
yes, 2.6. he goes to altitude, he doesn't have altitude before the Giro, what will altitude do to him before the Giro when he comes to the Giro to have fun, eat pasta and pizza, train for long climbs on altitude in the 3rd week of the Giro, he can light a cigarette on the hill and again they won't do anything to him these third-class GC contenders

It's good that he smokes regular cigarettes because i keep hearing more and more these vape lighters are really bad for your health.

Like Gino Bartali, real legends.

MVDP might be able to say that Philipsen is behind them too, so work together or let someone else win

I think he improved in 15/20 min efforts, and he was even more explosive. I don't think he improved that much in longer climbs.

Last years tourmalet and joux plane were notable improvements. He even said that he has improved on long climbs. Do you think jonas would win the tour if he had broken his bones 2 months before the tour(considering how meticulously he does his preparation)?
