UAE need to decide if they're serious about winning Sanremo or not next year.
They almost did...UAE need to decide if they're serious about winning Sanremo or not next year.
Hey now, I'm absolving Teddy of blame cause his team was too shite. They almost did...
Such a strange take. Anywho.
I would try the exact same plan again except for position into the cipressa better. If that means less pulling until closer to then, fineYou just can't win Sanremo riding this way. The Poggio is just not a climb where you ride everyone off your wheel. Try attacking on the Cipressa and see who follows, try to attack earlier on the Poggio when MvdP isn't glued to your wheel yet, anything. But this just isn't working.
Pog with a nice launch at the very top of the climb like mvp did last year. But could not stay away like mvp last year
I think Novak, Covi, Del Toro and Wellens did a great job.Hey now, I'm absolving Teddy of blame cause his team was too shite.
True, the likes of Alpecin, Ineos or Trek played it very well and were positioned better. But that still doesn't absolve UAE.And instead of discrediting UAE, some credit also has to be given to other teams. It is not like UAE can just do what they want in this race, no matter who they select. Most teams have their best line-up here and will ride to keep it together. Wants a sprint.
I sign what is written, that's itI think Novak, Covi, Del Toro and Wellens did a great job.
Ulissi and Hirschi got lost in the run-in to Cipressa. The former not having a good day.
Hirschi came back but it has to be said he was at the back of the peloton for most of the day. Maybe not at his best either.
You never know how some riders will go before a race. It is easy to go at them in hindsight.
They probably missed a Politt or Bjerg in the team, as a couple noted in the race thread. Myself included.
And instead of discrediting UAE, some credit also has to be given to other teams. It is not like UAE can just do what they want in this race, no matter who they select. Most teams have their best line-up here and will ride to keep it together. Wants a sprint and make it hard for UAE to dictate. Let them get a clean run-in to Cipressa and so on.
Can things also be done better, of course, but getting everything right in this race is incredibly difficult. Thats also the charm of this race. I guess you either hate or love it.
UAE need to decide if they're serious about winning Sanremo or not next year.
I think saying they performed awfully is a terrible take, thats not very accurate at all.True, the likes of Alpecin, Ineos or Trek played it very well and were positioned better. But that still doesn't absolve UAE.
and what I talk about all the timeLot's of money but horrible sports directors and a general manager with no understanding of tactics.
They are a joke of a team with the best rider in the world. Nothing has chance for the last 4 years.
3-1-1-2-2 in GTs as well!
What was goo about it? With 3-4km to go at the Cipressa everyone was cooked and tempo dropped considerably. Not how you can win this race. Is it easy? No. But the showing was simply not good. Del Toro and Wellens did put in some sacrifice and did well, Novak and Covi as expected but you know - there are two more riders.I think saying they performed awfully is a terrible take, thats not very accurate at all.
It is just a very difficult race to get everything right.
but now they're starting races where tactics don't matter at all with this kind of Pog, they'll destroy everything, including Vingo
