there are some interesting quotes from gianetti floating around. They are leaning two grand tours again. Sounding like giro/tour double again. Throws water on the P-R talk for this year, so a big no straight from the horses mouth.

PreachWhat? 🤣 visma knew they cant win against him 1vs1 so they bring 2 of the best gc riders in the world and attacked him left and right on stage 11 and since he was a kid he tried to respond to every attack as a result cracked on granon, he tried an all out desperate attack on stage 18 attacked ving 5 times on spandels brought him all the way up the climb leads him all the way down the descent(and crashed in the process) and paid for it on hautacam.
* these were the stages in 2022 where ving won. Other than those he was spanked 1vs1 all over the tour. So now you are telling me he was better than pog😁

That's crazy money for a sport without a league and shared broadcast revenue.Big contract. 50 millions in 6 years and a 200M clause. Dude is staying with UAE until his retirement
Mate, In 2022 there was not much difference between them their level was almost equal but pog had the edge on the last meters of a mountain stage with his punch which was the case on that entire tour. But pog was overconfident in himself and made so many mistakes. If you are honest do you think ving would still beat him if pog raced that tour smartly like the way visma and ving did all the tours? Like if he just follows ving &out sprints him on mountains? I'm sure he wins with bonus seconds like roglic usually does but fortunately for us fans he is the entertainer & born racer.Pogacar couldn't even attack Vingegaard when Vingegaard was isolated the previous stage
At the very least Vingegaard and Pogacar were equal on that Tour. Based on hard numbers, Vingegaard was better.
It's actually tiring when some Pogacar fans try to find excuses every time he loses.
It's like saying that Pogacar only won 2020 because the defending champion fell and Visma underrated him.
He only won in 2021 because his main opponent crashed out.
And he only won in 2024 because Vingegaard spent some time in ICU.
So if you're trying to find excuses for 2022 (when he couldn't even get a meter on Vingegaard) you may as well say that he's never won a Tour when his main opponent is healthy.
Vingegaard attacked twice and dropped Pogacar twice. Pogacar attacked 20 times and didn't drop Vingegaard once. Simply based on that I tend to believe that Vingegaard could've dropped Pogacar on another mountain stage had he tried.Mate, In 2022 there was not much difference between them their level was almost equal but pog had the edge on the last meters of a mountain stage with his punch which was the case on that entire tour. Indeed.Again, if you say "Vingegaard has never won 1 on 1 based on pure power" you can say that Pogacar has never won a Tour when his main opponent is healthy, can't you?
Yes, Pog's value is limited by the size of the pool he plays in but away from soccer and American sports its still a huge contract. That's crazy money for a sport without a league and shared broadcast revenue.
That's not true. Vingegaard tried to drop Pogacar in Galibier, LPDBF and he can't.Vingegaard attacked twice and dropped Pogacar twice. Pogacar attacked 20 times and didn't drop Vingegaard once. I thought i was clear with my ideas but somehow...🤕. I just explained the scenarios where pog lost the 2022 tour. Those two attacks u are mentioning are the granon and hautacam attacks right? Well on granon it doesn't need explanation for a person who atleast rode a bike once in his lifetime i.e if you do the work twice more than your competitor then he is twice fresher than you for the last climb. But let me explain the hautacam one & i hope you read it thoroughly, what happened on stage 6 of 2023 tdf? ving attacked pog on the last 2 kms of tourmalet brought him all the way up the climb then on cauterets cambasque he attacked and lead him out for 5 kms & 2.5 kms to go pog attacked and took 25 seconds on him and if the climb was longer he would have taken a minute.Vingegaard attacked twice and dropped Pogacar twice. The only times Vinge has ever dropped Pogi on equal terms have been on the Ventoux and Marie Blanque if I remember well. By this I mean that both of them arrive with their strength reserved for that final moment and not one of them attacking like crazy on the previous climb...Vingegaard attacked twice and dropped Pogacar twice. Idk if we can say equal terms on scorching temperature of ventoux when pog has never done heat training at that point in his career if ving was better that year he should have beaten him on col de portet and luz ardiden which were 50 &35 minute climbs but ridden on 15 degree celsius days. The only times Vinge has ever dropped Pogi on equal terms have been on the Ventoux and Marie Blanque if I remember well. More than that hahaNBA players get that just to sit on the bench.
and Roglic some work in week 2.Didnt Wout save Vingo in 1 week?
NBA is a huge market in a huge country. USA don't even care about cycling, specially after LA.NBA players get that just to sit on the bench.
I'd also think Tadej will be prepared for the upcoming Tour, particularly if all serious riders are on a healthy track. No bonking this trip.Idk if we can say equal terms on scorching temperature of ventoux when pog has never done heat training at that point in his career if ving was better that year he should have beaten him on col de portet and luz ardiden which were 50 &35 minute climbs but ridden on 15 degree celsius days.
NBA is a huge market, worldwide. Why else would there be feeder leagues everywhere in Europe? Nikola Jocic was the leagues MVP for '21, '22. Most US colleges have players from other continents and sponsors love stars to endorse their products. Very lucrative now that the NCAA lets athletes solicit support.NBA is a huge market in a huge country. USA don't even care about cycling, specially after LA.
You are forgetting about the reason broadcast rights are going to online platforms. CHINA.NBA is a huge market in a huge country.
Yeah, cycling is non existent in most continents. We still have a very european sport but this is changing, I hope 2025 WC in Rwanda can bring african countries to cycling and I would like to see WC in Colombia or Mexico. You are forgetting about the reason broadcast rights are going to online platforms. CHINA.
yea would really awful if some sheikh failed to recoup his "investment"8.5 million a year. For six years. Lets hope he don't do a chris froome.
Yep but at least the business model supports it. Cycling is still mostly a vanity play for investors and sponsors.NBA players get that just to sit on the bench.
