I think that kind of fatigue easily carries over to next year, and could affect prep quite a bit. What is there that's not Lombardia? Worlds are before the Vuelta and the route doesn't suit him much. Or do you think overracing will *** him next year

The first rider that I followed on twitter was Cav (2014ish) because his post race stuff was great! Ben King was pretty good too, as was Taylor Phinney, but he would post 10 things in one day and then go OWL for a week or two.Do riders even write their own social media posts, or do they just give a few keynotes and delegate it? I'd do the later, cause I couldn't really be bothered to do it, but mabye for some it's a way to calm down and relax a bit after a race/training?
I think the harm to his Lombardia chances are greater than what he can get from the Vuelta. And I also think he needs time off. Similar to next year with Olympics after the Tour and (Worlds/)Lombardia later. What is there that's not Lombardia? Worlds are before the Vuelta and the route doesn't suit him much. I think he’s getting quite popular in Slovenia in recent years (Roglic still the man to beat as was proven in Višarje). We like the underdogs as well. Pog the underdog🤣What a silly world we live in…Maybe he noticed his reception in Slovenia after the 2020 Tour and decided to limit the amount of times he clubs Roglic like a baby seal
Is that really a thing? I’ve heard of overtaxing, but not so much in the recent years…I see plenty of opportunity cost. Likewise next year, actually.
Unless Vinge isn’t able to repeat this level. It would be sad to see him do an Armstrong program where it’s barely race to peak for the Tour but it might be his only chance to win it now
True. Jumbo are too strong for Yates to be a real headache where Jonas himself has to react. In the fight for yellow, Adam’s GC was of no use this year. The drop down to third is just too big for this to be more than a fight between two riders only.
Only Rogla could pose a threat, albeit last year a fake one.

When I brought it up I was referring to going for stage wins instead of overall. Plus Almeida and Ayuso would probably get very upset if Pog just came and usurped their leadership.I simply don't think Pog is able to recover enough to win the Vuelta (and his camp probably realizes it too). Looking at previous years he's not that good at fast recovering from a 3-week race. The Tour cost him a lot, it was a battle of huge wattages. It's not like he coasted through the Tour without engaging afterburners. So in this case no Lombardia is a big loss. Plus building the 3rd large peak in a year is maybe too much? Most likely Vuelta scenario I see is him doing Giro+Vuelta double at some point.

Stage wins to build up to the Autumn classics and they’re less demanding than GC.Pogacar going only for stage wins in a GT? Good joke!

You have X number of matches that you can burn that are of a certain length. Longer attacks take two matches. It's simply a matter of knowing how many matches you have in your stash. There are very good books on cycling training where this is explained.https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/i-cracked-myself-pogacars-big-takeaway-from-tour/
"The team defied Pogacar's shot at a third consecutive maillot jaune last season with a tactical masterclass on stage 11. But Pogačar shrugged off the suggestion that their purported plan worked this year.
"The only moment where they really tried to crack me was, I mean they cracked me on Marie Blanque [stage 5] because he was just so much better, and then next day they tried to crack me completely but then I win the stage," Pogačar said.
"Then after, I just cracked myself, nobody else cracked me."
"It was all on me and nobody else did anything on me. It was me and my bad feeling."
"I cracked myself."
(I wonder what "bad feeling" actually means. Sickness, lack of preparation? )

Correct, but this, however, is also not in any short term plans. He gave an interview in Marca like three days ago and says he wants to do it at some point, but there isn't any next year or year after that thoughts going on currently. Unless Ayuso magically gains a gazillion watts, which is doubtful given he's been living like a pro since 16, and becomes the clear #1, the Tour will be the main target as it best goes hand in hand with the classics.I simply don't think Pog is able to recover enough to win the Vuelta (and his camp probably realizes it too). Some good old "They didn't win I lost" vibes.https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/i-cracked-myself-pogacars-big-takeaway-from-tour/

The last time was two weeks ago or so, when Miguel Angel Lopez won in El Salvador. If he manages to win four more races he hits 20 wins. When was the last time a non-pure sprinter won 20 races in a year? Gilbert maybe? It would be even rare for a sprinter (Sagan, Cav, Greipel and Kristoff etc)

Ah, Superman would've crushed those weaklings on Tourmalet and Loze. Too bad the real #1 couldn't compete there so the Tour victory is asterisked.
