I’m not so sure the vuelta makes sense being as he’ll want to be competitive again at worlds. And by competitive, absolute smash. He’ll want to win Lombardia again as it’s his clear pathway to accumulating Merckxian monument achievement

Would he be limited to the standard solo attack up/down Poggio, or do you think he could win with something more audacious like a move on Capo Berta?...For sure he will keep trying Milano San Remo, I'm sure everything will fall into place sometime....
Let's not conflate Remco himself and the way he reflects on what's happening on one side AND qualities attributed to him by passionate fans (Pogacar anti-fans) on the other one. Yes, Remco is considerably inferior when it comes to both induvidual engine and sprinting. As of the 2024 season. What's next remains to be seen.According to some die hard fans of Remco or Pogacar's haters, here are some hot takes I was reading here for the last year:
"Remco has the best engine in the world and can claw back some time on Pogacar if he gets dropped." Today, I was expecting Teddy to be caught by Remco or somewhat expected Remco to decrease the gap but he lost 1:20 minutes on flat terrain. I feel betrayed and fooled by those "cycling experts".
"Remco is very close to Pogacar in one day races and I have no doubts he will be better very soon"
"Remco is getting closer to Pogacar. I think he will catch him in 1 to 4 years"
The true is Remco is miles behind Pogacar and unless Pogacar has a serious crash in his career, Remco will never be able to perform like Pogacar. Remco is great but c'mon... Pogacar is an all time great and Remco's tears say all, he somehow felt so "small" when racing against Pogacar. For the first time, this kid felt like a junior and he is one of the best of the last decade.
Pogacar is unbeatable when he is racing for UAE. His team is very deep and strong, I found his attack in Zurich very stupid but now I think it was the best thing he could do because Slovenia was very weak and he would be caught in a tactical war against Belgium and Netherlands.

The aim is not to argue about which are the most relevant races but to keep track of which I feel are the most prestigious events regardless of the current official category.
I never heard of this award before. Looking at its Wikipedia page it appears that the judges are mostly tennis fans.
it's mostly down to commercial purposes me thinks. In Benelux, Branantse Pijl getssold better than Montreal.Dno why Montreal is a minor accolade when Brabantse Pijl is a significant race. Look at the startlist, come on.. same with Quebec.
Prolly, I'd also clearly rate the Canadian races higher than Paris-Tours and even Emilia despite its recents winners and history. Its still mainly part of the Italian autumn leading up to Lombardia and it isn't WT.Belgian propaganda
FW always had a better startlist than Emilia. It is a great WT race and one of the biggest feat in cycling is winning the Ardennes treble. Not sure I'd hold it being before Lombardia against it, because it means it's close to riders' main target at the end of a season.
I don't really know what to think of races like Quebec which essentially bought WT status, have mostly been won by good riders but not really been compelling races most of the time. Montreal is better ofcourse but I'm still fairly ambivalent about it.
Still, Emilia 100% deserves WT status for me. It's better than Fleche Wallone for me in every way.
But you can't ever say Emilia deserves WT status more than FW. FW is a important race for punchers and where they test who is the best in the world. Emilia just really seems a prep race when top guns don't care that much about winning.Didn't in the last 2 years. Thus already disproving 'always'
Emilia is a good race but Fleche is definitely the more prestigious one as it is part of that Ardennes treble.FW always had a better startlist than Emilia. It is a great WT race and one of the biggest feat in cycling is winning the Ardennes treble.
I don't know why we don't bring the worldcup again. I loved that jersey and seeing Bettini winning so many times just made this cup worth it. This cup really recognized the best classicomano of the season.Emilia is a good race but Fleche is definitely the more prestigious one as it is part of that Ardennes treble.
Italian fall races has always been clustered together with Lombardia being the main attraction.
Fleché still has more stand-alone value despite being part of a "treble" and LBL being the main race.
AGR was at one point seen as close to being a monument, despite SB surpassing that these days and closer to holding that title now.
Sivakov the only rider that has believable power numbers for a pro. The other pros and their power for that flat section seems way under what they actually produce (how does that work?).
They were riding together in a group and they probably weren‘t pushing the limits on cooperation while Sivakov rode alone.Sivakov the only rider that has believable power numbers for a pro. Draft. Sivakov was going solo, the others were in a group. Totally believeable to me.Sivakov the only rider that has believable power numbers for a pro. The other pros and their power for that flat section seems way under what they actually produce (how does that work?).
Yeah, that's probably true. I guess they made time back on the descent and the last uphill section. They were riding together in a group and they probably weren‘t pushing the limits on cooperation while Sivakov rode alone.
I think he was cruising in Sormano just to nuke that flat section. If he really wanted, he could take almost 2 minutes on Remco in Sormano.
