both pog and vingegaard underperformed compared to last year, especially in high mountains, but also many other riders underperformed compared to the numbers of last year. Something tells me this is not a case, and we might be underestimating some aspects. I mention 2 of them . 1) this tour was ridden at a crazy average speed, much higher than any tour in the past, and this was due to the nature of the parcours in the first 10 days, with a lot of hilly stages raced at crazy speed with no room for breakways. This certainly had an impact on the legs in the mountains. 2) The weather: this tour started and ended with low temperatures and rainy conditions, with only the middle part having sunny conditions. This might have had an impact on the performance of many riders due to various illnesses. 3) the lack of strong domestiques: especially in week 2, the absence of almeida and jorgenson did not allow the teams to set a strong pace, especially in hautacam and superbagneres. In week 3 this did not have much of an impact beacuse imo both vingegaard and pogacar looked cooked in week 3

Very difficult situation today for Pog. UAE dropped the ball. Isolated early on the climb and forced to pace on the front. Very clearly wanted the stage but also didn't want to gift it to Vingegaard, who had understandably a little more left at the end since he's done nothing the whole stage.

pog's level in this tour will remain one of the biggest question marks for me. I really believe he looked better at the dauphine (part of that is linked to the bike he has used at the tour). I have no idea of whether he really did not have the legs or he simply decided to not win all these stages
He's clearly really tired. And he does not want to giftwrap stages to Vingegaard by taking any risks himself. And that's completely normal.

Rest young man, a 105 km solo is waiting you on Kigali
only way to do that is to skip vuelta. After watching him in week 3 of the tour I really expect and hope he doesn't go to vuelta. He's clearly tired but also not at the top mentally. He probably also needs new challenges and he doesn't particularly like stage racing. I hope he focuses on trying the TT in the WC and then clearly the road WC and then lombardia

Honestly, I don‘t understand what he was doing. Just follow Arensman‘s attacks, Vingegaard will follow you. Then after, he doesn‘t try to win the stage. The team works the whole day and then he just plays chicken when the other rider has given himself up as well. Just very disappointing although slightly more understandable than Vingegaard doing nothing.
