Honestly, I don‘t understand what he was doing. Just follow Arensman‘s attacks, Vingegaard will follow you. Then after, he doesn‘t try to win the stage. The team works the whole day and then he just plays chicken when the other rider has given himself up as well. Just very disappointing although slightly more understandable than Vingegaard doing nothing.
Arensman would continue and continue to attack.

Also some people speculate that "gifting" stages are beneficial. UAE didnt go all-in on Superbagneres, and obviously Arensman didn't care *** all about that and rode his own race for the stage as he should.

Looks cold, a little weary, and nose still a bit blocked, but he's got 4:24. Reckon Vingegaard will feel feisty after today, but the next two stages don't naturally offer that kind of time gap for Vingegard to get back.

Ride defensive. Stay on the Vingegaard wheel.

How many start-stop accelerations does Arensman do before he‘s cooked? Maybe Pogačar didn’t want to do that but that‘s surprising given how he‘s often wanted to win before. He just seems to only take easy stage wins and as soon as there‘s resistance he gives up and I didn‘t expect that. Also, even with this tactic, he should have been able to go those two seconds faster so I find it weird that he‘s more afraid of losing to Vingegaard than giving away the stage.

It's crazy how Pog in 2024 was so strong that he could have realistically won all 3 GTs.
This year all this classic training has made him worse at GTs.
It's not the classics training, it's just a harder Tour de France.

This is like the 4th time in 5 years he was rumored to do the Vuelta after the Tour. He's bailed out every previous time. Clearly he gets very tired. In fact, races immediately after the Tour are usually the races where he's most prone to being completely off.

I think he came down from Tour really tired last year, and a Vuelta would have been a disaster.

Clearly in 2024 he was better than this year. Yes, he was tired but he was pushing alien numbers in the last 3 days.
Now he is looking human.
I'm pretty sure the classics preparation hinders his GT capacity.

Because he is racing in March-April and he doesn't have 2/3 weeks of rest like Contador had for example after his spring campaign.

Vingegaard has been preparing for the Tour all year. Pogacar was at Paris-Roubaix in April, and it wasn't until May that he started training for the Tour.

This is a moral blow for Vingegaard, even though Visma's entire media is now saying otherwise.
Well, if he does Roubaix next year the TDF is not guaranteed.
Especially if Visma are smarter because their tactics is stupid.
