Vine is always crashing. No way. Soler is from Barcelona, of course he will race the Tour.
For me McNulty could a great dom but he doesn't like to suffer for others.

My team:
Pogacar
Almeida
Soler
Narvaez
Politt
Wellens

Now 2 spots where I would like to see strong climbers.
Del Toro (I think he will target the Vuelta)
Sivakov
Yates
Vine
McNulty

Since we have a TTT, it would make sense to bring Vine and McNulty (if Del Toro goes to the Vuelta). They are also two very good powerhorses for climbs and rolling terrain. But they are not willing to die for Pogacar.
I would've been good with Soler but he was underwhelming in this year's Tour. Sivakov is just too much of a question mark and Yates seems on a downward trend. Unless UAE wants to send the same 2025 team next year, I just think the best options are Vine and McNulty. If Del Toro doesn't target the Vuelta, he should definitely be in the Tour team.

He is peaking for this race. He is fresh (few race days) and he has been training 2 months for this race.

Yeah, Remco should be strong at the WC. He has good engine for 250+ km races and is one of the best on short climbs. I wouldn't underestimate Carapaz: he's also preparing at Colombian altitude especially for this race and him being on the podium wouldn't surprise me at all.

Del Toro and Almeida would be the perfect scenario for Pogacar. A strong tempo before a strong leadout from Del Toro.

Yes, good point. Carapaz will be a challenger too, specially due to his incredible intelligency.

After Roglic saying he will not compete in the WCTT, it would be a shock to not see Pogi there.
Other thing James, you still believe Almeida can give Vingegaard headaches in the Vuelta? Or will you finally admit Vingegaard is clearly (by far) the second best?
Ive never said he wasn't the second best, thats obvious. I only questioned how much better he is than Almeida now, since you, in typical fashion, claimed the gap between him and the next guy is gigantic. That's the only thing I've questioned based on simple numbers, not whether he's the second best, a big difference betwen the two things.

But if it makes you happy, I will gladly admit hes byyyy far the second best rider too if he beats Almeida by 4-5 minutes, be happy to do it.

There's no point if you don't even get the message. Go back and read those messages again, then come back. I never said he wasn't the second best, thats obvious. It doesn't make me happy. I don't care but what I know is you keep underestimating Vingegaard because you doesn't like him.

Or maybe you’re the one overestimating him? Let’s keep it real what was the original debate even about? That the Tour would be close, right? I said it wouldn’t be remotely close, you spent a year saying it would. And thats fine, who cares.

But then you, of all people, cant come around now and say I’m underestimating Vingegaard? haha what? That doesn’t add up. Results matter, hombre, not so much what you so clearly want to be true.

I don't have any problem saying I was wrong

But how can I underestimate him when I was right? doesnt make sense. Fair and I promise neither will I if Vingegaard crush Almeida, Ill even tag you and say it too you! would be happy to do so.

I dont dislike him as much as I think you think I do, I just dont cling to a irrelevant past, I actually think hes far far better than his palmares says and so on. And just so its clear I obviously put him in a league of his own behind Pog, I just question how big that gap is now as I suspect its decreasing relative, I might be wrong, lets hope I am.

He will still build his palmares. There is a chance he wins the Giro next year. So he will actually sweep all GTs before Pogacar.

He's won twice as many Tours as Vingegaard did at a younger age. That's way ahead of winning the Vuelta.

If Pogacar wins the fifth Tour, it doesn't matter how many Giros and Vueltas Pogacar wins. It'll be like Rominger winning the GTs that Indurain didn't participate in.
In this Vuelta, the feeling is already that Pogacar would have won it.

Not to mention everything he's won outside of GT. If Pogacar adds a second world championship, that'll be way ahead of Vingegaard's Vuelta and Giro. Plus all the monuments...

There's no way Vingegaard can compare to Pogacar. The only way was to win more TDF.

But he can't win a race without showing up

Pogacar never rode Vuelta in his prime, which is interesting (considering it's already the 6th season). Its timing doesn't fit his calendar at all and he doesn't seem motivated enough to do it and tweak his schedule.
I think he doesn't care about the Vuelta. I see him more excited to race PR or RVV.

I still have goosebumps with this presentation.
