You guys are going to love this. Patrick Evenepoel (father of) says Pogacar isn’t riding the TDF next year.

I don't think that's happening. The Giro ends on May 29th, the Vuelta starts on August 22nd. That's almost 3 months. The only one day race worth noting in that period is San Sebastian

Sky days are sooo back! "Evil team" with an "evil rider" strangling the sport and we get to spend the entire off season talking about possible TdF lineups and which lieutenant should get a GT to his own

Who are our present Contador, Nibali and Quintana???
I feel like CyclistAbi makes a good Florecita impression, both supporting the peoples champion.

And in no way can Almeida and Del Toro demand sole leadership in a GT on UAE.
Because Almeida and Del Toro are similar in level or who/what am I missing?

Because they don't have enough spots for sole leadership outside of Pogacar.

And lets not pretend they didn't let Almeida get 4th in the Tour when Pogacar was there. They manage to do double leadership perfeclty fine.

The main issue is you cannot promise Vuelta leadership unless Pogacar already decides today that he will not race it. And unless he's been lying out of his ass, the decision to skip the Vuelta has basically always come during/after the Tour.

Why is Remco's dad getting that impression? Doesn't make any sense?
Oh this can't be good. Did he come by that information before Remco signed? Sounds like Remco should have an agent not His Dad whether it's true or not.
That would still leave four better climbers to contest the Tour win; at least one a RBH teammate.
Vingo and Primoz hope this is true.

It's natural that father hopes his son's dreams will come true.
If he asks Pogi will skip the Tour, he's such a good boy after all.

I think his father is just sharing what he heard. Obviously that’s hard for the internet to understand. That not everything is a “move”, with a specific end in mind.

Yeah, Remcos father has no motive whatsoever of course. It is the internet that have trouble understanding for sure.
Like I said before, Pogi fans are going to love it. Maybe I should’ve rephrased it to: people are going to love see Pogi fans respond to it

I think that his agent is spreading rumours to generate headlines and create a ‘buzz’

I think people are reading too much into it. Pogacar won't even read this, and if hears about it he'll be like: "I have no clue about my schedule yet myself. Let me rest."

I think they just leave the Pogacar to Vuelta question semi open. You send Almeida to Giro-Tour because you don't want to be that light on top quality support, and Del Toro can go Giro and then leave the Vuelta an open question as well.

And in no way can Almeida and Del Toro demand sole leadership in a GT on UAE.
I agree with this. I wouldn't be surprised to see it on his schedule again this year. If he comes out of the Tour similar to the way he did in 2024, I'm confident he'd ride the Vuelta. He seems to have been hugely tempted in 2024, but didn't go in order to keep his teammates happy. That's less of an issue if he doesn't ride the Giro and with Ayuso gone. I think the world championships will remain a priority, but now that he's won two in a row, it won't necessarily stop him doing the Vuelta if he finishes the Tour well.

It's obvious nonsense, and unsubstantiated speculation by an old pro is not newsworthy and should never have been reported.
Same with the final boss, Roger De Vlaeminck. Both raced in an era when helmets werent used. Do I need to say more?
