In the last 8 monuments Tadej has been on the podium of all of them.

For just those he rode his streak is at 10 successive podiums of which 7 were wins.

Now hitting at over 50% win rate over his entire career in monuments which is just ridiculously impressive.

Chapeau to the 🐐. Team did so well to rally him back into position after such a badly timed crash.

I thought we were ready to cancel the race cause the team selection and injuries were a disgrace....

Pogacar gifting him Montreal/Mcnulty showing fantastic teamwork today
McNulty has also looked in great early season form.

Huge performance today.

Well done.

Also Grosschartner and Florian for pulling like crazy to get Pog back before Cipressa. They didnt get much help from any cars. Like Visma did with Van Aert.

Del Toro with the final launch.

Pog mentioned all of them the first thing he could say after the finish. Class act.

Not me. I didn’t think winning was likely as I thought it would be extremely tough to shake off MVDP by as much as he did today to not even come back on the descent but I was always confident it could happen at some point in his career. I voted yes to all 3 big goals in that poll thread.

Gives WC 22 final vibes. The drama with the crash, also amplifying the heroics of the win, history surrounding it etc

Oh that final was an absolute nail-bitter. Even though I was way past my football fan "peak" I still couldn't fully control emotions. After watching Messi's genius for 15 years we witnessed his crowning achievement.

That is probably not very good for Pidcocks chances in the future, in this race.
I actually disagree but he'll have to win the obly wat we all thought he could, by getting away in the last 2km and hope others don't immediately chase. Or do a Mohoric on a descent and stay away

Funny exactly same actually fotball interest not what it was at all but it was an insanely perfect game and a perfect ending of a genius indeed. A coronation fit for the king of the sport. Gave some ressemblance of today

It is possible he could do that, but it will also be harder to execute rather than pretty much having a 50/50 chance in a sprint like this one.

How this race plays out will always be a bit unpredictable.

I do agree with that however as we repeatedly see, you have to actually be there to be there. Maybe he'd be there last year also but crashed. Maybe next time he'd be in bad position and as a consequence get dropped

I think there was a silver lining to the crash, when the peloton reached Cipressa they slowed down enough to let Del Toro get to a good position at the front without spending much energy and for McNulty to guide Pogacar

Or just failing to get away with an attack on Poggio or its descent. Nibali, Mohoric and MVDP has won that way though.

That is pretty much his best shot or a similar scenario as today.

He also did try a late attack on the flat, but MVDP pulled him back and Philipsen won the sprint that edition.

Pidcock just told to the interviewer that pogacar has said to him he won’t comeback to this race anymore. Well, good luck to vdp and ganna🤣

Hard to believe. MSR is so easy to fit in any calendar. It's more likely that Pogacar won't be willing to come back to the Tour anymore when he gets #5 (but sheikhs may not agree).

The crash wasnt ideal, but it did make the peloton smaller and so on.

Disrupted things.

It never really plays out how one thought it would even though the outcome of it being Pog, Pidcock and MVDP going over the top of Cipressa together was a plausible scenario.

I wonder if he doesnt want to come back to Sanremo now that he has won there or if there is a deal with his team that once he has won all monuments the focus goes back to GTs. Gianettis reaction right after the race kinda sounded like he was relieved he could focus more on the tour again.

But why stop clicking the "I win" button 800 times a season?
