Suspect OGE may "cut their losses" and also withdraw Matthews rather than keep towing him around for another day with no real positive outcome likely. If fit, he'd be a definite asset for the TTT but he's not likely to be able to contribute. This should allow better protection for the Yates twin should they be looking at any upcoming stages and/or allow someone to target a break/move.

Worst case scenario would be that he keeps riding, he falls behind in the TTT, then one of their other guys crashes out of the race, which would mean his time would be their time.

Jack Bauer crashed heavily and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. He suffered a fracture of the greater trochanter of his left hip. He remains under the close supervision of the medical team and will return to Girona in the coming days.

Cancellara finished the stage where he crashed way back, so he had lost the jersey to Froome already when he abandoned

The problem was that he was hurting so badly he could barely hold on, let alone actually do some work for Greipel.

He was hoping to get better and help Greipel at the Champs-Élysées but every time his heart rate went above about 120-130 he struggled to breathe, so there was no way he'd get over the mountains. All in all an heroic attempt, but unfortunately it was futile.

Nathan Haas seems to be struggling a lot in the last 2 days. Not looking good for Cannondale in the TTT with Bauer already out.
