Yeah little thing about the Tourmalet, this tour was only the second time they went to the top. The one you're referring to stopped earlier on in some small village, it's not the same climb.

They were going east to west on stage 16, they were going east to west in 2003. Same side.

Bertie never rides well in wind, climbing or TT'ing (seems to affect him a lot more than other riders of similar size). Not sure why. Maybe more uncomfortable with it than others.

We shall ask the wind to bug*er off next year as this is not fair play :p

Same side.

No, 2003 was coming from the Aspin, the East side, the same side they went over in Stage 16 this year.

Stage 17 was coming from the West.

The West side is considerably harder, hence the longer ascent time.

If you're comparing the times of the East ascent, then it's incomparable considering the epic stage it was in 2003 and the rest day #3 it was this year.

Menchov flying. The question left, will Schleck be able to keep this up, or will he pay one big price for going all-out-and-a-half?

Schleck is 2+ minutes up with 15k to go.

Gesink at 7'24
Hesjedal 5'37
Point 3
Almost 2 minutes for Hesjedal
He might just make it (Gesink) or might not!

I think 56.30 was in reference to stage 16. On stage 17 the times were about 50.30

new brain cells as well, as the debate was whether AC was slower this year than last year.
Whatever the 2 old boilers have to do with it beats me.

My argument that times are slower is actually pro contador, everyone seems to be significantly cleaner this year. Even AC 2010 vs 2009.

FACT: The whole peloton has been a lot slower than previous years.

I think you need to go out of this fan forum a bit more:
