I voted for Wout...even if he's not fully committed to the green he would take it anyway. If not Wout, then Jasper.

I think this jersey was more competitive with the pre-2011 point scheme. Before that I have the idea that a contested jersey was the case more often than not while after 2011 the biggest battles I remember were maybe only 2020 and 2017/2018.
2020 was close until Sagan got disqualified. 21 and 11 were close to see if the other teams could get Cav OTL. 18 wasn’t close at all, a 231 point gap. 17 was close until Kittel DNFed. Like @Red Rick said, it hasn’t been competitive at the end since 2010.

WVA will win it if he wants to, otherwise probably Phillipsen as the fastest sprinter here.

Turns out the real reason WVA - officially - isn't going for it:
He just doesn't like the new colour...

Any of those named would be great story if they won Green. But I will hope for Biniam Girmay but picked Jasper Phillipson.

Would also be great if Fabio Jakobsen and Lefevere targeted Green. Jakobsen almost died in 2020 so that would be a fairytail and I've always liked fairytails :) . But I hope for Girmay as that would be an even bigger story for the sport. Girmay has never finished a Grand Tour but he is still only 23.

Also regarding the fight for Green, agree it hasn't been interesting for a while (when was it last a real competition?) But when I look at these names in the poll it certainly could be a very interesting competition this year if the teams and riders want it. And I can guarantee if Biniam Girmay won the Green jersey at the Tour de France that he would be a national hero in Eritrea.

The riders that I think will target it include Pedersen, Girmay, and Phillipsen. There are enough pure sprint stages and the points heavily favor winning over placing so I think Phillipsen has the advantage. He also has MVDP leading him out on flat stages and competing with the others for points on lumpy stages.

Pedersen said that he doesn't aim for it. Guys like Coquard usually go for as many points as they can, but well... no.

Bini could be an interesting contender indeed, but it would need an early stage win, I guess, as that will probably be his first priority. You can't really go for all from the start in your first ever Tour, and intermediate points are important for green.

The last real competition I would say was Petacchic Cav, and Hushovd, and Hushovd and Cav.

Philipsen also has the advantage of being really consistent in the sprint finishes.

Green is the Nations League of jerseys. Nobody cares except the winner.

Completely disagree.

It's the 2nd most prestigious jersey at the Tour and, after the World Championship jersey, the most coveted jersey in pro cycling for puncheurs and sprinters to win.

He said different at the team presentation yesterday.

But it's probably dependent on a few things:

1. He has to still be in contention at the first rest day, otherwise he will drop it and go for stages.

2. If Skjelmose proves more durable than expected, and still has a top 10 finish in reach, he will probably drop chasing green to ride as a Dom.

There is indeed only 1 jersey for Classicimanos to care about

It will be interesting, since Wout has no feelings for the Green Jersey, yet his riding style will probably give him a bunch of points towards it. In the flat stages he'll most likely go for the victory or finish in the top; on breakaways, he can join in and again go for the stage; on mountain stages he will be ahead of the rest of the sprinters and who knows if he'll also get more points.
