Nope again !

On that picture is exactly this frame

This proves that you can fool some of the people most of the time. Look again.

Look closer. A clue is the head/top tube weld and the BB/CS/ST welds

The frame is actually a De Rosa Team.

That was the internet consensus at the time (well at least on weight weenies) I doubt it was a stock Team frame though as the geometry Ale Jet likes isn’t that same in his size. He runs a 54 ST with a 58 TT and a 140 mm stem (or could be 160mm). Long and Low, much like other big sprinters.

On the subject of moulds the figure that I said (.5 million) was probably an exaggeration I think it is closer to $200k. As much as I would like to I don’t get to play around with bike moulds so am not too clear on price. Still bloody expensive, although they claim that the new mould got used for the revamped Tarmac models.

The Shack bike - a$$hole ugly

I just saw a pic of the shack bike and damn, it has to be one of the godiest graphic jobs I've seen in a long time. I do like the red and grey together but the graphics are too damn much. I understand the advertising value of it and it probably will work from that perspective but none the less it is one ugly bike all in all.

Oh boy Petacchi obviously hates carbon frames because on this picture
IMG_8770.JPG

also isn't carbon De Rosa King 3 RS
The externally routed cables and shape of the fork and frame is definitely different than this one

Those R3SL seat stays are razor thin. Anyone have experience with the R3 line? How do they feel?

Harsh, and no longevity.

as an interesting side note. Here is my team bike for the year (Clipsal-Felt) Sorry for the carp photo but only had my phone camera on me.

I had a 2008 R3. I initially bought it after a test ride where I felt an immediate power transfer from the pedals to the wheels when going uphill. I fell in love almost immediately. Then after buying it, I wasn't able to repeat that experience in comparison to my other ride, a custom titanium Lynskey. In addition to having the same performance as my Lynskey (power transfer, subjective stiffness, etc), the R3 was considerably more harsh than the Lynskey. I felt like I'd gone through 10 rounds with Mike Tyson after a 100km ride on the R3, but had no problems with longer distances on the Lynskey. My first foray into carbon bikes was not the pleasant experience I was expecting!

Not riding it at all, but I was just browsing some pictures of teambikes and I saw vivelo at caja rural. Does anyone have any background on it? Their website says (?) they are Bulgarian or something? Good bikes? Bad bikes? Expensive bikes? Just 2 wheels and a frame bike? Made in the same factory as brand x bikes?

Giant always makes a nice frame. The Rabo ones for the past few years have been exceptional aesthetically, I think. I've been told that the quality is also easily on par with--if not better than--certain curvaceous frames with Italian paint jobs. (Take that for what it's worth, but it sounds like a good way to save $2,000 on a top-end frameset...)

Did the lightweight logo give them away?

When the question is what it is, you give the answer, it is blindingly obvious they are Lightweights simply from the hubs, so the initial question was redundant but pointing it out like an asrehol e isn't what I do, you however, are happy to be and arsehol e. As you will know this guys question was originally posted in "What bikes are your riding", (quite inappropriately), so I was working on a basis of charity to someone who may not know better, whats your excuse?

And may more pros run custom alum frames than you might think.

I'd like to know more! (Boonen used an aluminium Specialized SL2(think SWORK E5) years ago when the carbon SL1 did not fit his weird geometry)
