Have you seen the size of Ed Clancy? He's hilarious when he does ride on the road, he's about a foot taller and wider than everyone else. He's not aero enough to win a GT ;)

I dont see the problem. Just have him lose the extra 15 kg.

Why would he do that when he can become the best GT rider in the world?

Given your name, we're not expecting you to be wildly optimistic about the legitimacy of Sky's performances. However, this does not really excuse such an idiotic statement. It's patently obvious to anyone with a vaguely open mind that Clancy is a sprinter with just enough endurance to ride the TP. However good he is at the TP and the kilo (his best event) he just doesn't have the body type to excel at endurance events. He can't really cope with the endurance events in the omnium.

You'll soon be be suggesting that Sky sign Theo Bos to replace Rogers in the Tour team or maybe suggesting they should give Chris Hoy a run out. Hoy's first appearance for GB on the track in the World Cup was in the TP, so he's clearly ideal material.

In 2008 Froome was Clancy.

At the rate Sky are producing champions it should be suggested Chris Hoy take up the road.

Beaten by Quintana, Valverde and Rodriguez, you're clutching at straws.

Good ride by him today, glad to see him attack and do some damage. Been looking for a marker for the season from him, good to see we're getting it.

Beating Pozzovivo, Scarponi, Martin to name 3 decent climbers.

But clutching at straws is the accusations thrown by fans who believe TTers can naturally climb with the best and beat the rest.

We have been here before. Nothing new in what Wiggins is doing. Nothing new whatsoever.

Yeah but Pozzovivo, Scarponi and Martin never did the track. If only they spent 10 years riding round and round.

Scarponi wasted his time doping.

Should have been clean.

Would have gone much faster.

55 guys within 3 minutes on mountain top finish NOT NORMAL

27 within a minute

EDIT it is actually more than that, (they are GC figures) should be 61 & 31

Hahahahahaha Wiggins the mountain goat - the transformation is almost complete - meet the new boss, same as the old boss

Well, it is interesting seeing him trying to change.

Sky train to race: last years Tour suited Wiggins just about perfectly
This years Giro doesn't, although it could be worse.

He'll have to manage sudden accelerations and MTF's, without Froome.

So it was interesting to see how far this years training has taken him.
Two days out of 3, his attacks have lit up the race, quite a change in mentality from last year...better than he was, but not as good as top 2 in this race

Movistar looking good: their copying of Sky obviously paying dividends.

And with Nibali also riding the Giro, should be a good race

Oh sorry, should I have posted this in the road race section?

Apparently he only won last years Tour because it was flat and no Contador.

Now he can attack Dawg style up mountains!

Must have a big engine

No... It was a weak field in 2012. Every stage race they entered and dominated in 2012 was a weak field. I can't believe you screwed that one up Hog.

It's that big engine he's always had. Check out all those monster climbing stages where he was attacking the lead group right after leaving the track.

What's the matter with you? Sky's clean.

This is what should be "normal". What is abnormal is 2-3 guys finishing 5 minutes ahead, then the rest scampering across the line.

I would argue this means the playing field is more level and more competitive without the doping.

But, I guess you are making some unfounded accusation that 50+ guys are all doped up with your statement.

Maybe half the quotes here are sarcastic, and unless you know who the posters are (and their usually boringly fixed positions), its not always easy to spot, unless its marked:rolleyes:

Just saying

Movistar warmed up well. Nothing sky could do today

I thought warming down was THE marginal gain to ridicule. When did that change to warming up? Can I be informed of any other marginal gains to ridicule please (some good ones in Cycling Anthology iirc). thanks:D

If you took out all the mocking sarcastic posts, this thread would be about the third of the length.

As a plus we would not have to read any of your posts.

No different frrom any other thread.

There was some good, interesting debate today, but I check the forum after the commute home and the sneering is back in full effect (although not by your/ good self). It's just boring and predictable, more about scoring points off each other than actually getting somewhere constructive, as evidenced by the cat's intelligent response

you don't think Nibali is clean?

Mate, believe when I say this: I don't have a clue. I don't really have a clue about any of the peloton, I just have hope and opinion and gut instinct. I read here and I watch and I try to form something approaching a reasoned decision.

I need to because I want to enjoy the sport I watch.
