wiggins talent is undeniable. his track records speak for themselves. look at boardman, who was close to winning duaphinee in a period where all his opponents were doped to the moon and boardman never dropped any weight unlike wiggins. and it's not as if wiggins is a super rider all of a sudden. he's severly limited as a climber and it shows all the time.
Just shows how much you know on cycling. 56.375 metres an hour full of epo nonsense. Not that I minded at the time after seeing dottore Ferrari break it with Rominger at the steering wheel.

When will dear Wiggo attempt to break the hour record?

Yes it certainly showed when he was struggling to keep up with the grupetto and was finishing grand tours in the 100s. that seems pretty normal.

so did geraint thomas this year, when he focussed on track, while last year eh climbed quite well despite still being heavy.

Ignoring the massive change in his abilities from before 2009, I would tend to agree that he was limited in that year..for a top contender.

In the 2012 Tour he showed few such limitations.

in the tour 2012 wiggins bombed hard in that first stage where froome went. wiggins dropped also by jdvb and nibali and I mean hard. only froome stopped riding then. they could've taken massive time on him. and the 2012 tour had the worst level of competition in recent memory not to mention the ridiculously easy course. wiggins will never come close to winning the tour again.

Did wiggins concentrate on the track in 06 and 07?

I agree he'll not win again, I'm not sure he'll not even be close. He was not the best climber in the race, but he was amongst the best. As I said, "few such limitations".

I think the salient point here is that his performance was light years from anything he'd showed prior to 2009 and significantly better than 2009.

To me, given where he was before his change is incredibly suspicious. His team also showed very suspicious levels of massive (not marginal) transformations. That it all came together in the Olympic year in London is just too much for me.

To me there is some possibility that they did it clean, as there is no proof. I don't think they should be sanctioned of course. But do I think they were clean? No, I personally don't. I think it's fairly likely they were protected.

A bit off topic but I was wondering if anyone has a link to a recent photo of Leinders (preferably taken within the last year)?

Yeah, I'd seen that one. ;)

I've been through google images and it appears that there aren't any pictures of him from his two years at Sky.

In 2007 TDF struggling to finnish in grupetto might just have been asscociated with mountain stages just the days after one of longest solo breakaways in TDF history.

I don't think you need epo to ride 56.375 metres in and hour.

Another unsubstantiated doping claim about a rider with an almost universally accepted "clean" reputation.
I expect you include Graeme Obree in there, too.

Maybe you ought to re-jig your username to be Factless Greg Lemond.

Strange, wouldn't well informed cycling 'journalists'/photographers have recognized the sympathetic looking Belgium former Rabo - guru?

Or did he just not attend races?

Boardman clean?

Obree is a completely different story.

news?

with leinders , yates , rogers departed from team sky i'm wondering.........
how come i have not heard any reply to rumours from these ex team sky
employees?

are they likely to be restricted in speaking up by confidentiality agreements?

and are team sky similarly tied by such agreement other than being professional and honouring an ex employees privacy?

yes, that would be the normal way. Now should any of the implicated find themselves with no assets later in life, perhaps we will see another book from somebody.

ha ha hoggie! this reminds me of a longtime internet observation......your
not deep.......your not clever......you just have internet access

why do you think that leinders did not do the job that he was employed to
do?
within rabobank ensuring the health of riders........if they chose to dope

or with team sky helping to get the best out of riders ....on a clean programme

While his past indicates a clear penchant for the PED's, it is possible that he is bringing 'new' technology the game that keeps Sky out of trouble. Maybe he's one of those doctors '3 steps ahead' of the testing......which could mean new products, methods....or that they are actually clean and have new knowledge.....Maybe that's what they bought.

wow!

You must be right, 56k plus per hour is humanly possible when you are able to push 7w/k for an hour. Expert.

Question, did they manage to take dear old Chrisse's htc in 2000 when he crushed Merxkc'es record with 10 metres? Guess not, or just within the 80% basic isoforms?

is this the FGL 'lets diss boardman thread' or the sky thread?
