Its only a puff piece if you start from the stance that he must be doping. objectively it is a pretty outspoken and honest articulation about how he feels. The thing I can't reconcile is that if they are dirty, why would they make it so obvious? 'Hey guys we are all doped to the gills so lets go out and smash everyone and put ourselvves firmly in the cross hairs of every anti doping zealot out there' Why would they do that? they are not stupid. If they were doped it would be far more likely that they would be much more circumspect, why raise suspicion?

I love this one. They are so good, they must be clean.

Is team sky just copping what should really be directed at Armstrong? I'm sure if Armstrong was riding his mtb on a adjacent road, those bottles would have been hurled in his direction instead. Anyone that looks even the slightest bit suss is going to cop it this tour. Pyranees should be interesting.

If Bruneel was at the tour Nissan would have a re-designed car, coming out of the Pyranees

Hi ... I'm new to this forum.

Wiggins looks pretty PO'd! He could crack a smile in his 1st GT podium.

FWIW, I believe in the whole marginal gains concept that DB expressed years back. But what SKY has been doing has been a step beyond my suspension of disbelief. As so many have posted in this thread, it's not one thing, it's all of them combined. Perhaps the latest "gain" they found is not PED ... yet, but that is pretty much the most I could believe.

Also FWIW, it would be kinda funny if Chris Froome smoked BW in the final TT (if I am going to watch a farce, I'd rather CF win).

lol I ask if anyone could explain why a world class pursuit rider cannot become a world class road racer and NOBODY was able to answer that question. But instead people pointed to examples of track riders that didn't make it. Good effort, but that doesn't even come close to answering the question.

Seems like there are lot of people in this forum that follow cycling and know the results of many pro riders, but have next to zero understanding of human physiology and limits to human performance.

That's a baffling conclusion to take. Again I point out, as I did in a post previously:

The type of engine you need for Pursuit and the type of engine you need for climbing a mountain/competing in a Grand Tour are very, very different.
It's basically the same as Kimi Raikkonen saying that, because he was a Formula One World Champion he could do the same in a rally car (which of course, he couldn't, and was a monumental failure at).

Two completely different disciplines.

Asking for evidence on why someone couldn't do something is essentially asking them to prove a negative. The reality is, holding up one comparison to draw a conclusion to a completely different event is ridiculous.

So the fact that it looks like they're doping is proof they're clean. That's a fascinating train of logic you've got going there.

That is such a puff piece.

I was following the comments on it yesterday. There were people raising fair questions about Froome etc., pointing out that Wiggins was just saying what every rider says (including the dopers) etc. - nothing libellous - now almost all these comments are gone.

What's left is, "Brad, you're great. How dare they question you? It's just the French being jealous".

I wonder if, to get Wiggins to write for them, the Guardian have to agree to delete anything that Sky don't like?
Caruut and yourself confirm what I said yesterday on this thread (See p258 )

The comments on that article do not follow the pattern you usually see in the comments section of the Guardian , or the Independent.

Usually, there is a balance of views on the subject being discussed. Not only are there few negative comments or negative comments have been removed, but as I said yesterday the positive ones are all in a similar style, possibly witten by Team GB/Sky PR or there friends. It would not have surprised me in a Rupert Murdoch rag, but I am surprised and disappointed by these 2 papers.

It is sad no journalist has publicly criticized Wiigand for his foul mouthed outburst the other day, but sad no journalist has discussed objectively the cooments raise against Sky.

Sky hospitality must be very good and very lucrative. With Team GB/Sky training program and this 'censorship, it reminds me of the East German sports set up pre-1990.

Could just be that other papers are $hit scared of legal action from the teams backers...

I'd like to think that's what he did, like "Seriously? Wiggo? Couldn't you at least be a bit subtler?" :D

But in all probability he was just signaling him where to pass him to avoid trouble in that bend.

not sure.
I opt for option one.
the handtoss looked one of astonishment and subsequent annoyment, but I need a replay to be sure.

I was one of the many who had their comments deleted. I said nothing libelous. The Guardian has always heavily censored pro-race threads. The LA one lasted about two hours before being shut down. There was no point in opening it for comments if they were only going to accept ones praising BW

Agreed. Wiggo doesn't have many friends in the peloton, methinks.

Also interesting was how quickly Sky's domestiques were shed on that little climb, leaving Wiggo to chase down Cadel himself. They can (impossibly) do threshold work all day long on the front, but the acceleration changes really do them in. Oh how I wish Contador was riding to mix things up...

so now a 30 second lead out (mostly to keep out of danger on a dangerous downhill bend and to repay Boasson Hagen) is a sign of doping? This thread gets more and more desperate.

Uh no, it was a joke. You can tell that from the green-faced guy with the seriously ugly teeth.

Like this one. :D
