I know a lot of people on here aren't big fans of Team Sky but they have really helped British people get excited about cycling so I wondered what peoples thoughts were on what squads they expect Team Sky to use at the grand tours this year?
My guess is:
GIRO: Wiggins, Henao, Cataldo, Knees, Siutsou, Kennaugh, Lopez, Xandio, Pate
TOUR: Froome, Porte, Wiggins, Uran, Kiryienka, Thomas, BHagen, Eisel, Stannard
VUELTA: Henao, Uran, Lopez, Xandio, Cataldo, Kiryienka, Pate, T-Locke, Swift

I think the Sky GIRO team will be the one currently racing in Giro del Trentino minus Drombrowski plus Uran and Henao.

So the difference from your team is Uran in for Lopez.

It is too early to tell for the TOUR or VUELTA teams.

I thiought we'd already had this thread.
Sorry if its a repetition, I couldn't find any that seemed to fit the bill. Could you post a link to it?

Dombrowski is confirmed as not taking part in the GIRO.

It's probably for the best as he doesn't seem to be quite ready yet, especially for the team time trial.

Any thoughts on the inclusion of Pate, don't know much about him as haven't seen him much this season in the races I've seen?

Does it matter?

They all look the same to me. Just another rider doing 100km pulls on the front of the peloton.

and they will be gone as soon as the results drop. see germany, norway etc etc. they have no cycling culture and can be misses like toothache

Thought scandinavians liked to watch the tour
Looks like that on the TV atleast, Norwegian and Danish flags all over in the mountains the last couple of years

every country "loves" the tour(read get drunk on mountains with other people in the sun). that isn't the point.

Brailsford revealed that he wants Pete Kennaugh, Dario Cataldo and Rigoberto Uran with Wiggins in the Giro.

....

"The reality is there'll be a little bit of question mark over Bradley coming out of the Giro," Brailsford added. "He could be flying, but he might not. We don't want to count on him necessarily. If he is in great shape, he and Froome will be there, if not then [it'll be] Richie and Sergio."

http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/news/latest/537922/sky-s-giro-and-tour-teams-near-finalisation.html

So after all probably no Henao in the Giro I guess?

They helped a few people get into it. from what ive seen though and my experience and from the fact that broadcasting is still limited to fringe pay 2 watch channels, there doesn't really seem to be much of a difference.

The TV figures from TDF in Norway dropped a massive amount last year compared to the previous years, so he has got a point. A lot of the viewers from Norway were Hushovd fans, not cycling fans. With him out of the equation, views were cut in half. As a result, Norwegian TV2 also went from showing more or less every race in 2012 to only showing a select few in 2013.

Yeah it's still not hitting the mainstream enough but at least people have a talented team to support so it has a chance of getting there. Would love the BBC or ITV to show events other than the TDF (on ITV4) but I consider my £2.99/month subscription to Eurosport a bargain.

First point. The Giro team they predicted is definitely wrong because Zandio confirmed today that he'll be riding it. Also Kiryienka said during Pais Vasco that he almost certainly wouldn't ride the Giro.

That's an interesting comment on Henao though. If Froome has managed to get Porte, Henao and Kiryienka then he's done very well for himself. Is it possible that they might keep Henao completely fresh for the Vuelta and he won't ride either the Giro or the Tour?

Can you imagine: Froome, Wiggins, Porte, Henao, Kiryienka, Siutsou, EBH, Thomas and Eisel as the Tour squad.

Cheers for posting this. Very interesting to see Henao not doing the Giro. Reckon they think the TDF will mean he is still in shape come the Vuelta?
My thoughts were that Kiryienka wouldn't be doing the Giro and Zandio would be in his place but maybe Kiryienka's better time-trialling and his obvious suitability for Wiggins has changed their plans? Would be a shame though if Zandio wasn't in either the Giro or TDF though. Hopefully they're saving him for the Vuelta as he seems to have had a lighter workload than the rest so far.

we cna only hope, but I really, really doubt it. this is disatsrous news for henao, as he will be empty after the tour obviously. sky may rot in hell on my part. hope henao realises it like uran and will leave the team after this season.

True, but the thing is, this morning Wiggins said at Tuttobiciweb that Henao will be his right-hand in the Giro.

«Nei giorni scorsi non sono riuscito a completare la ricognizione come volevo, ma dopo il Trentino avrò tempo e modo di provare la cronometro. In ottica Giro la condizione è complessivamente buona, l’avvicinamento è stato simile a quello del Tour dell’anno scorso, ho buone sensazioni. Henao sarà all’altezza di sostituire Froome, ho piena fiducia in lui».
