It was still worth it. To lose were 0 points and 1 place out of 33. That is nothing, considering the upside Ballan offered if things went the other way.

No different to picking a young rider at 0 when 80% of them don't score anything more than pocket change.

When in 2011 Ricco went down with all his 800 points, that was a game changer.

Won't he still be 0? I mean ppl picked offredo last year.

It does mean however that even if he won all 3 gts in 2016 his 2017 score will also be 0 because that will be the score of his last full unbanned season

Not sure if you're just jokes but to clarify this discussion:

2.1. On ex-dopers
All riders are available to choose; however, riders who have been suspended for doping and had that affect their 2013 score will not be available simply for their 2013 score. Instead, a rider’s value will be equivalent to that of his last full season; or, if he has more recently had a (not full, due to suspension) season in which he has earned more points, that season represents his value.

Ballan will be available at 0 points until 2017 (you can pick him next year if you want too, wheee), at which point he will be 0 points or whatever he scores in 2016, if that is higher.

Regardless, I think he's done personally. I didn't even think about him getting suspended with regards to this year's game, it just seems like there's no coming back from the severity of his injuries.

231 points from the Tropicale, not bad at all Could have been better if Lulu hadn't lost the lead on the last day but I'm still pleased with the result.

Good to see that Berhane is upholding the tradition of my former picks scoring big once I lose faith in them and stop picking them. I now expect Rolland and Pinot to sweep the GT this year.

Seems like the game is about to take off. We have two stage races starting today and we will see some strong riders in action which should give us some ideas about our picks.

As always, I have mix feelings about the TDU. One one hand, I'm happy the season is here, on the other hand, I find TDU slightly unfair for this game as they award way more points than TdSL and in the past the rider who won the one important stage won the whole ware and collected more points than those winning WC or Paris-Roubaix or some other major race.

Not true. More like ~300 points. WC is worth 400.

Even that, 300 points for winning on Willunga Hill is more than 280 for Paris - Roubaix.

On a paper the race should be slightly harder this year, so hopefully the boat-load of points for winning this race will be deserved.

Still, the Saint Louis race has also very strong field (maybe even stronger) and half the points will be awarded. It will also take more than a one stage to win the race.

It's the same situation for everybody so it's not really unfair, and because these races happen early in the year it's easier to change your team to try and take advantage. For example, I completely overlooked Gerrans until I saw he was on the startlists for TDU and Herald Sun Tour, then I read some interviews with him from October/November were he said that his training was already ahead of schedule - which is the main reason why I picked him.
