not many points this week I am afraid :p

Didn't have the time to follow the TdS that much, but it seems my team was quite successfull.

Denifl is finally back winning the Moutains jersey
Jungels scores 110+ and is in profit
Lopez Moreno scores 100+ and is in profit
Gesink with a nice showing and 80 points
Henao adds another 60
Sagan with some nice stage points
Dombrowski, Atapuma, Gaudin, Mohoric and Moser with minor points

+ Finally, Vilela shows up finishing 8th in France after winning some bonus secs on the last stage!

Should at least stop the slide it took during the last few weeks.

Had a good week with Sagan taking the points jersey and De Gendt second in the mountains jersey and two stages, Lopez, Gesink and Henao in the top-11 plus some minor GC-points in Switzerland. Latour third in the Route du Sud GC and in the mountains stage, Jauregui second in a Route du Sud stage and Kump winning a stage in Slovenia.

A week of keeping pace. Sagan did well in Suisse, and is now 60 points ahead of where he was at this time last year. If he has a passable Tour and a better late season than last year (which wouldn't be hard), he can still be a decent buy despite his lackluster classics campaign. Gesink and Henao did ok in Suisse but everyone has them, but on the flipside, not that many of the top guys in Suisse are popular picks, so I'm not losing out too much. Latour's surprising third in Sud makes him a good pick for the year too, and of course Kump picks up 20 points for a small eastern European race. All in all not a bad week.

Ten most popular riders

I thought I would have a look at the ten most popular riders and how they are doing so far

Giving them my pick rating out of 10

1 - Sergio Henao (133 picks) Cost 92 Current Sore 641 Profit 549 Return 697% Rating 10
2 - Caleb Ewan (132 picks) Cost 95 Current Score 607 Profit 512 Return 639% Rating 9

The two most popular picks have returned over 500 point profit and a 600% return so far and there is plenty more to come from them, missing either of these will seriously effect your chances.

3 - Richie Porte (125 picks) Cost 415 Current Score 1267 Profit 852 Return 305% Rating 10

A higher cost gives a 300% return but an 852 point profit so far means he is arguably a better pick than the two above. Still may have more to come.

So far without these 3 your team is seriously weakened.

4- Mark Cavendish (119 picks) Cost 642 Current Score 686 Profit 44 Return 106% Rating 8

Not quite the profits of the previous 3 but is likely to still score more and is still a useful addition to a team and given a good TDF may become even more useful.

5 - Robert Gesink(116 picks) Cost 274 Current Score 197 Requires 78 more ponts for profit Return 72% Rating 7

While not yet in profit I think he still looks good to return a decent profit.

5 - Moreno Moser(116 picks Cost 87 Current Score 89 Profit 2 Return 102% Rating 5

Small profit while not a bad pick unless he suddenly changes missing him would not really hurt you.

7- Joe Dombrowski (114 picks) Cost 10 Current Score 186 Profit 176 Return 1860% Rating 9

A solid pick with a great return percentage wise, not quite in the Henao, Ewan and Porte must have but good nevertheless.

So far all great to solid picks

So far so good.

8 Matt Goss (107 picks) Cost 66 Current Score 10 Loss 56 Return 15% Rating 2

Flop who I only gave a 2 rating two because of his low cost.

8 Simon Yates 107 picks) Cost 207 Current Score 428 Profit 221 Return 206% Rating 8

Solid pick with solid profit.

10 Thomas De Gendt (95 picks) Cost 54 Return 105 Profit 51 Return 194% Rating 7

Good for his cost but I don't see him as being a must have.

Re:

Update #24: Sagan scores

This week, after Chris Froome last week, it was another member of the "Big CQ 4" who scored well: Peter Sagan. With two stage wins, two 2nd places and the points jersey, Sagan scored almost 200 points. Many participants in this week's top 25 - including the entire top 5 - have Sagan in their teams, however other (semi-)popular picks also scored well, like Bob Jungels, Miguel Angel Lopez, Nairo Quintana, Sergio Henao, Robert Gesink and Pierre-Roger Latour. This week's top scorer, karaev, picked all of these riders except for Jungels, and also scored some minor points with Kump, Dombrowski and Manzin. Jancouver did not pick Lopez like the rest of the top 5, but picked Moreno Hofland instead.

This week's top scorers
1 karaev 690
2 HelgeBlendet 680
3 Jancouver 673
4 Crevaison 668
5 greenedge 661

HelgeBlendet just missed out on the week's top score, but they are this week's highest mover, climbing 21 spots. Weekly winner karaev also features in this list, as does Jancouver. They both move into the top 30. Fauniera was 9th on the week and their week gets even better as they climb 16 spots. Oliveira, curiously enough, doesn't have Sagan in their team, however relatively rare picks Barguil, Roelandts and Lutsenko make up for this.

This week's high movers
1 HelgeBlendet (+21)
2 karaev (+16)
2 fauniera (+16)
4 Oliveira (+14)
5 Jancouver (+13)

No movement in the Green Jersey classification, although derrudi scored 2 points this week and now no longer has to share the 3rd spot with gustienordic. Thanks to their good scores, fauniera and Jancouver are now 11th and 12th.

Green Jersey competition
1 Kjellus 128
2 afpm90 127
3 derrudi 120
4 gustienordic 118
5 will10 114
6 Londonpat 112
7 shalgo 103
8 EvansIsTheBest 102
9 LaFlorecita 101
10 Ruvu75 99

In the overall ranking, derrudi moves onto the podium. Geraint Too Fast leapfrogs shalgo while skidmark overtakes Kjellus. Greenedge, who had the 5th best score this week, moves into 11th place. Cykeltyven stays 1st and slightly extends his lead.

Top 10 Overall
1 (-) Cykeltyven 9791
2 (-) Londonpat 9670
3 (+2) derrudi 9384
4 (-1) PeterB 9293
5 (-1) snccdcno 9273

8 (-) will10 8925
9 (+1) skidmark 8890

Interesting that I have 5 of the 10 most popular picks. Although missing Porte is hurting me (not that I would fight for a high ranking anyway). I was surprised by his spring results although you needn't to be a genius to guess he would score more points this year than last. I don't like him though that's why I didn't pick him.

Don't expect too much points for my riders in the coming week, maybe Simon Yates shows some results in France or Mühlberger and Dombrowski in Austria. Oh and Cavendish or Sagan for the green jersey. :)

I have 8 of these 10 and I don't have the "flop" Goss and average de Gendt. So I should be doing well, or not? Well.... I don't (rank 78 currently). While they are a must have to win you need a few not so popular riders that perform really well it seems. My expensive non popular riders (D. Martin, Kelderman) both performed terrible so far and that's why I don't get anywhere. Thanks for the update.

Somehow Ewan was accidentally crossed out when i was whittling down my ~100 rider long list into a ~40 rider shortlist which has probably doomed me this year. Most annoying is that his points have been extremely 'soft'.

The nats were pretty nice for me I think.

Jungels, EBH, JVDB, Lutsenko all winning, Groenewegen and Cav also got decent points. :)

And Cav, Jungels, EBH and Lutsenko showing good shape before the TDF is also encouraging.

Update 25: Nats week

This week of racing was dominated by the national championships. Popular picks like Boasson Hagen and Cavendish scored well, but their scores didn't affect this week's results too much. To get a high spot in the weekly ranking, you have to have relatively unique picks who scored well. Our weekly winner, Eyeballs Out, is the prime example of this. On top of Boasson Hagen and Cavendish' points, two of his most unique riders, Costa and Arndt, scored 64 and 90 points. Roelandts and Van den Broeck, both picked by some odd 20 people, scored a combined 150 points, and one of Eyeballs Out's unique picks, Kuznetsov, scored a decent points with his 4th place in the Russian road race. SamJourno had Malori, Barguil and Jungels as his top scorers besides Cavendish and Boasson Hagen, and he also picked Owain Doull, who surprised many in the British road race. The rest of the top 5 also had a mix of the riders above, but lacked just one or two mid-range scorers to bring them out on top, because as you can see the differences are small.

This week's top scorers
1 Eyeballs Out 671
2 SamJourno 665
3 jeroenk 642
4= derrudi 621
4= Nicosix 621

Just like in the previous weeks, 2nd place on the week takes the #1 spot in the weekly highest movers ranking, however SamJourno has to share the first place with Nicosix. Eyeballs Out can't complain either, as he moves up 14 spots. We have a 4-way tie for 4th place, between just some guy (Roelandts, Coppel, Jungels), Sneekes (Barguil, Alaphilippe, Stannard), The Amateur (Sörensen, Haller, Hofland) and mc_mountain (Alaphilippe, Vakoc, Groenewegen).

This week's high movers
1= SamJourno (+15)
1= Nicosix (+15)
3 Eyeballs Out (+14)
4= just some guy (+13)
4= Sneekes (+13)
4= The Amateur (+13)
4= mc_mountain (+13)

Not much to say about this although it is interesting that #1, kabete didn't finish top 5 once this month. Their overall consistency lands them the title of June's top scorer. Also, no one out of the top 5 in this month's biggest update, the one after the Dauphiné, features in this list, and yes, I did check if this wasn't a mistake :p

This month's top scorers
1 kabete 2031
2 greenedge 1960
3 Sneekes 1958
4 GP Blanco 1940
5 derrudi 1911

As you can see this list is similar to the one above, unfortunately for them greenedge and derrudi aren't among the month's highest movers, but such is the cost of being top 10 overall ;)
Instead, we see just some guy and ironted in this list. Dauphiné-week was great for ironted, he finished 2nd on the week and was the highest mover. Just some guy had some rather high highs and some lows, but the overall balance lands him a spot in this list.

This month's high movers
1 Sneekes (+38)
2 kabete (+37)
3 ironted (+30)
4 just some guy (+28)
5 GP Blanco (+27)

Who's the poor soul who had the worst month though?
155 LaFlorecita (-45)
Ah :p

In the Green Jersey competition, jeroenk pushes Ruvu75 out of the top 10, while derrudi jumps from third to 1st.

Lots of movement in the top 10. Londonpat leapfrogs Cykeltyven and now leads the competition. snccdcno, shalgo and will10 all climb 1 or 2 spots, at the expense of PeterB, Geraint Too Fast and skidmark. Greenedge is a new name in the top 10: he moves into 9th place while Kjellus drops from 10th to 13th.

This was my last update, Netserk will take over now :)

Thanks Flo! You did a wonderful job. Now you can sit back and watch your team rise places as Alberto scores in the Tour.

I'm still hanging on the top 10 by my fingernails. My Tour lineup could keep me there, depending on how others' picks do (especially Froome/Quintana):

Tour de France

Gaudin
Dennis
Cavendish
De Gendt
Boasson Hagen
Simon Yates
Rodriguez
Gesink
Porte
Stannard
Sagan

Not a bad lineup. Obviously I'm pulling for my most expensive picks, Sagan and Rodriguez, for stages and overall respectively. And it could be a good Tour for them - if the 'big 4' weren't so big and he were a few years younger, I'd say this was Rodriguez's best shot at a GT, it's pretty much custom made for his skills. Even at 36, if he avoids the usual crashes and there are surprises like last year, he could conceivably podium. Sagan will take a backseat to Contador, but there are enough stages that look possible for him to do himself that he could still score a bunch of points.

Other than that, Cav can mop up sprint stages now that Kittel is out, EBH is kind of the man for MTN, and could conceivably go for green, Dennis could go well in the TTs and TTT, and I'd be surprised if Yates didn't at least contend for a mountain breakaway stage sometime. Gesink could top 10 if things go well and top 15 if they only go okay. Gaudin and De Gendt really only have possibilities in breakaways, and Porte/Stannard only have chances of anything if Froome comes to grief. I could see Dennis or Rodriguez having a chance at yellow after stage 3, and I could see Sagan and EBH with a chance of it after stage 4.

That's my optimists' outlook. Who knows what will happen once the opening week crashes pile up...

What do other folks think about their TdF teams?
