I have just two Belgians and I only included those because one was very cheap and the other one was only added because he may be one of the popular picks and I didn't want to miss out. Didn't really want him, but I had no choice.
That being said, there is one Belgian that I really wanted, but could not fit him in because he was too pricey and doubling his points is very unlikely IMO.

Same here! Though many young Belgians are huge gambles with quite daunting costs. Plenty of young riders on the point of breakthrough in Classics, if they can get a protected role in their team. And often these riders choose to attack rather than to follow wheels, which lowers their game potential even further. However, I love picking unorthodox riders, so I'm looking forward to see our teams' similarities on the Belgian and Italian front.

My team's in.
This is the first time I play the game, so I guess I'll need a couple of years to adjust my strategy.
I have 7 riders from Italy, 4 from Belgium, 3 from Colombia and then a plethora of different nationalities represented.
4 of my riders are 21 years old or younger, 6 are 22-23 years old, another 6 between 24-26 years old, 9 between 27-29 and 8 are 30 or older.
As for CQ points:
1 >800
3 between 600-799
3 between 300-599
13 between 100-299
13 <100
27 are from WT teams, 5 PCT and 1 Cont.

The aggressiveness of some of the younger Belgians is indeed why my heart is set on picking them. Had to adjust to fit my head accordingly:-D And only four of my Belgian riders would be considered young I guess.
Funny observation about my Italian riders is that all bar one excel in one specific category.
Will await potential New Year rider jinx' before sending in my final team - also without the ever-so-important French PCT rider.
EDIT: And apparently I made the same mistake as R_O_Shipman and for some reason made a team with a 7000 points limit. Doh! Instead of going completely back to the drawing board I opted for the "switch one rider for a 500 points more expensive rider" - which coincidentially gave me another Belgian on the team.

Happy almost-to-actually-new-year everyone, depending on where you live! CQ has updated their download for December 31st, so that is the final official scores for the game. I've copied those scores into the Create Your Team file that you should be able to find on the first post. The good news is that none of the 39 teams that I've processed so far are over 7500, so if you're listed on the second post of this thread, you don't have to worry!

Just sent my team. It has it weaknesses but then my goal is only to improve compared to last year which shouldn't be too hard.
Some stats: 5 returning riders, 22 WT, 8 PC, 3 Conti, 5 Belgians, 4 Colombians, 3 Italians and Spaniards, 2 from Danmark, Norway, France, the Netherlands and Russia. 3 Sky and Movistar riders.

on the team front I have 4 Movistar and rather surprisingly 3 Sky.
7 of the riders return from last year, 3 of whom lost me points, 4 of whom gained me points. there is also a guy who I very nearly picked last year, in the end I am glad I did not as he scored less.
I have 21 WT, 10 PC and 2 Continental riders.
I have 1 0 score rider and my highest is below 800.
as I spent the whole of last season in the bottom 10, I hope to do at least better than that this time around. it was my first go though so I have theoretically learnt some things, let's see if it actually works...

I just noted this thread and this Ranking Manager seems really interesting. Unfortunately I just joined cyclingnews and haven't posted any comments. Looks like this means i can't send any messages. i think I'll still look into it (I have no other plans today). I'm already learning so much. Unfortunately, I'm American and my knowledge is limited to events I can see on tv or streaming.

Vladamir, I can't say that choosing young colombians is a bad strategy, but I'm not sure that chasing last years results is the best way to go. But I guess you only have to hit on one or two.
