Great for me in the podium fight, as has already been mentioned by my rivals @EvansIsTheBest and @Earns1985. Makes the battle even more fun to follow when all the involved players are so active in the thread!Poole with a late surge in the season to win Tour of Langkawi. Into profit now.
Currently he is also listed for Tour of Guangxi.
Yeah, Van Uden seems like a very one-dimensional type of sprinter right now. Maybe needs to move to another team at this point.Great for me in the podium fight, as has already been mentioned by my rivals @EvansIsTheBest and @Earns1985. I was disappointed when I saw that Langkawi had a much easier queen stage this year, and was definitely not sure that Poole could win a sprint from a small group to take the GC. So that was a nice surprise. On the other hand, after one great month this season, Van Uden continues to be a thief. His performances in this weak sprint field are quite shocking, to be completely honest. His June results turned him into a decent pick anyway, but I expected much more considering the chances he has had. At the start of the year I also had a very good feeling about Milan Fretin, who I ended up not picking, so it's a bit annoying to see him do so well while Van Uden is underwhelming.
Not sure he would make the best list. I think there are enough Girmays and Carapazes. O'Connor is 1083 profit on 811 for example and then you also have the likes of Jonathan Milan, Benoit Cosnefroy, Maxim Van Gils, Stephen Williams and Jhonathan Narvaes who all would have better percentage returns than Pogacar and they would also fit in most of the cheapest big retunerns. My gut feeling is that he's been a shoe-in for the optimal team for some time already.
There should be enough Zambaninis and Christens (and not enough Girmays and Carapazes) to make that equation work.
Oh, and despite being bored out of my mind watching it, the Giro dell'Emilia was at least kind to me in CQ terms. Piganzoli was a big pleasant surprise.
Not sure why he's been bad though in 2024. He seems to have ridden a full schedule without and long breaks for injury or so. It's always a red flag when someone has just been bad for no reason rather then having struggled with injury or illness etc.Van Tricht looked like a really great pick for 2025.
And another certain rider in today's race who has had a a rotten 2024 will probably score some 300 points in October

Only 132 points since the Tour--just 167 points since Romandie! That's 253 points of profit for a cost of 1023. Bad pick in retrospect.News today came out, that Ayuso ended his season (so no Lombardia and also no China and no Veneto for him), which should also be to the likes of @Squire.
Can't say I was surprised (yes, a little told-you-so is of great joy, let me have it).Ayuso leaving the Tour is potentially quite bad for us non-Ayuso pickers. Vuelta podium with a bunch of stage points is worth much more than a mid top ten in the Tour plus fatigue for the rest of the season.
I think it's quite likely that he will end up as an average pick, but depending on his race program he can also end up not scoring much for the rest of the year.
Yes, who would have thought that a couple of month ago. In May I was about to suggest that a separate ranking be introduced for all players with Ayuso and one without, so that all non-Ayuso owners can still have something to follow this season.Only 132 points since the Tour--just 167 points since Romandie! That's 253 points of profit for a cost of 1023. Bad pick in retrospect.
Had Ayuso in 2022 and 2023, not this year.Is there anyone who has picked Ayuso for all seasons he has been eligible (and who still hasn't lost faith and will pick him again next year)?
Ya, it's a wonder people picked him over Ben O'Connor...Only 132 points since the Tour--just 167 points since Romandie! That's 253 points of profit for a cost of 1023. Bad pick in retrospect.
I don't think anyone would pick him in retrospect, and I only called him a bad pick in retrospect.Ya, it's a wonder people picked him over Ben O'Connor...
I think I was mainly not trying to be optimistic for my chances so I wouldn't set myself up for disappointment, but I was also surprised how little of note he did post-Tour. So I'll give you your told-you-so!Only 132 points since the Tour--just 167 points since Romandie! That's 253 points of profit for a cost of 1023. Bad pick in retrospect.
@Squire's fears didn't come to fruition:
Can't say I was surprised (yes, a little told-you-so is of great joy, let me have it).
I don't know if that injury played any part, but at least I was somewhat right in my general skepticism about him having a full season of consistent great performances. But I will also gladly admit that for most of the season I wished he was in my team.Evenepoel screwed me in 2022, Roglic screwed me in 2023, but will Ayuso do the same this year? At least he's not as obvious as the two others. He's awesome and can win almost anything, but I'm slightly worried about him doing a full season, as he still rides with pain in his leg from the injury and there might be a slight risk of having to take more time off the bike.
