I need everyone to take a deep breath before they post about the Mallorca TTT CQ points later today. Many of us are going to get mugged off by the archaic way they award TTT points, but tomorrow is another day and we can all forget about it (until the next TTT).

CQ doesn't know yet how to quote this result, haha. PCS is quite generous.

I believe they know how to: they mat not yet have a complete list of who did or did not finish with their team.

In a team time trial the points on the scale will be awarded to the team. For the individual ranking, these points will be divided by 4 and rounded downwards. The points will be awarded to all riders classified in the time that counts for the team classification.

So 20 pts each for the 4 RBH guys that finished together, 12 each for the Movistar 5, etc

Bit sad, 4th place is already without points. I prefer PCS here.

With Finn and Mas missing out on their points for the crime of not finishing with the first of their teammates, CQ's awful TTT allocation is actually in my favour this time round.

The PCS one is also really bad, way too many points for the minor placements compared to what the winners get.

Points haven't been allocated properly yet. As of now, Cattaneo has 80, Denz has 48, Evenepoel 40 etc. This is clearly not how it'll end up being.

But yeah, normally they only give points to riders finishing with their team in GTs. For a one-off they might give everyone points though, as they did for the trade team TTT WC.

I don't think what is on CQ at the moment will be final:
positionpoints in a 1.1 race1/4 of that, truncated

Are there any reference points for a 1.1 TTT on PCS, or any TTT not part of a stage race or the world championships?

I think it might end up something like this, https://cqranking.com/men/asp/gen/race.asp?raceid=24032 as 80 points for a 1.1 and 80 for a TDF stage, but will those not on same time get the points?
So what I quoted earlier was not the whole section:
In a team time trial the points on the scale will be awarded to the team. For the individual ranking, these points will be divided by 4 and rounded downwards. The points will be awarded to all riders classified in the time that counts for the team classification.
Exception: In the ProTour TTT in Eindhoven (2005-2007) and the World Championship Team Time Trial all riders who start receive points.
So the "only those who finish in the timed group" restriction didn't apply when the TTT is a stand alone event. I guess they never expected it to happen again, so they wrote the rule in the past tense. Thus far, it looks like they are not restricting the points to those that finished alongside the fourth man.
