Seixas doing Seixas things (might be time to start a second classification for the non-Seixas team). Some French dude piling on classics points in a comeback year (first Laporte now Cosnefroy). A rare pick (Finn) in a promising position crashing out. 2026 in a nutshell.

Mauro Schmid pretty much guaranteeing his place in the collective ignorance team by mid April was not on my bingo card (but then I guess it was not on anyone else's either).
Yes please, looks like I'm first in that ranking! :D

So, according to Shakes' site I have scored more than anyone this last 7 days. 1078 points. It still only just moves me into the top 50 mind.

Feel for Lorenzo Finn. Hopefully his young bones will knit quickly.

I have 300 points to catch up.

I am mostly thinking about the past. A long long time ago when I was fourth. Before Seixas properly started. I can't root for him anymore. Ruining this game. :)

I am contemplating making a non Seixas ranking. Only sounds fair. Well, to me.
with seixas instead of girmay youd have been 12th in the ranking

Hirschi is rapidly moving up the ranks of my worst ever picks in this game.

I was right to be concerned when I saw that only 6 people had picked him.

As the season goes on, I would be interested in a list of highest-scoring and most profitable unique picks. Aside from competing for the win (something I don't have the team to do), it seems that the main joy in the game this year for me will be making a couple of good picks that nobody else thought about.

It is a shame that nobody picked izagirre.

Ya, Hirschi is a trap pick. He only got so many points in the previous years because he was riding a very one-day race heavy schedule for the top team in the world. His level at Tudor is likely more in line with his actual capabilities when not having a super strong team around him anymore.

We saw the same high points when Del Toro rode a similar racing schedule last year. The big question is whether there will be someone this year who gets the same dominant schedule. My thinking is that it would be Benoit Cosnefroy but it could apparently also be Morgado who mentioned racing more italian one day races this fall. Or it could also be Jan Christen running away with all the wins.

If Morgado is changing teams next year, doubt UAE will allow him to farm all the points.

Ya, that might be true. This was something he said at the start of the season so things might have changed now and can probably change a lot more before we get to september/october.

With hircshi you have to remember there may be other things going on that have to be discussed on another part of the forum. Remember the reasons for him leaving DSM/Sunweb and joining uae.

Among my expensive and concerning riders: my Visma recruits.
Bruno Armirail: Apparently, Vingegaard has chosen him as his favourite babysitter. Not good.
Louis Barré: knee injury, then illnesses. Could return to competition in May, they say.
I was expecting a ‘Visma effect’ on these two, but not this one...

Pelayo Sanchez first race was actually decent. He finished 42nd 3 minutes down on a mountain stage where many others were 10-20 minutes down. So that should mean he actually has some ability to him and might not just be a hopeless pick this year.

I am on the same boat with Fiorelli. Although if he keeps up the number of race days he might hit 200 points just from finishing enough WT races.

Shiffer has been alright though.

Barré cost me 553 points and so far scored zero.
I don't see that kind of fail in your team.
Well, apart from not having Seixas.

The hardest climb was taken out so the stage wasn't as difficult as planned, but still a better performance than feared for his first race day of the season, although with the late start in mind one could have hoped he had been slightly more competitive. Of course with Quintana and Pescador being the team leaders, his own results don't matter much as long as he can be of service to them and finish the race. Tomorrow should tell us more about his current condition.
