Then a nice, lightweight, UPRIGHT hybrid with fast road wheels is the solution. NOT compromising your safety and everyone else around you!

Kill it with fire I say....

:D

Is it that unsafe though? Cannot imagine he would be that fast on it and he is SOOO upright that steering would be more precise than the average person on proper low TT bars. (but agree that he should take up riding recumbents in quiet parks instead of being out with the real peopl)

Imagine the flex in the steerer extension! Riding on a crappy road or path would make that setup a ticking time bomb.

The scariest part is that a mechanic or somebody with some experience would have had to set that up :(

i dont see the problem. he looks like he has been riding a while on it. he wears running shoes so it appears not so much a serious guy so imagine speeds would not be an issue more comfort as he has a back problem.

If carbon is good enough for pros going down mountains at 70/80kph it must be alright for guys like this.

It looks like a set up he put together himself. Not all LBS are better than a guy in his shed/garage. LBS has to fix bikes in a limited amount of time whereas the guy in his shed can get it right in his own time.

check out New Zealander Richard Britten and what he did in his garage with building a complete motorbike from scratch:cool:

Just to hijack the thread briefly - in the name of correcting your post ...

His name is John Britten - and, although I never had the pleasure of meeting him, from everything I know of him, he was very much one of those guys who walked that fine line between genius and insanity.

For anyone who's interested, I'd heartily recommend this movie (assuming of course it's a legit link and I'm not going to get busted for encouraging internet piracy, etc, etc ...): http://www.torrentreactor.net/torrents/528174/One-Man's-Dream-The-Britten-Bike-Story

The bits where he's casting engine parts in old oil drums and building full scale mock ups in his garage are just insane ...

And for the real petrol head, check out the "sound" tabs here: http://www.britten.co.nz/

I love v-twin sport bikes, and so wish that the rumours that spring up every so often that they're going to bring this into road legal were true ...

Ok, enough hijacking ...

We will now return to the advertised programme ... :D
