Of course a Remco fan would disagree with me. It's the only type of race where he still is relevant.

Remco is much more than a TT rider and for that reason he will end his career as a generational rider.

So which one is it?

Okay, fair enough. He is much more than a TT rider but it's the only discipline where he can really dominate.

And having Van der Poel as a teammate is the only reason for that but this is a really poor reason to have him that high on a list of best cyclists.

Yes.

But I don’t see why it’s negative to “only” being able to dominate and win big in one races. And that only winning matters, because with this in mind there are really only 4 big riders.
1) Pogacar dominates all GC/Mountains/classics with hills he wants.
2) Van der Poel dominates the one important flat cobble race.
3) Remco dominates the TTs.
4) Rider X that dominates mass sprint. There probably isn’t one at the moment.

If there is a “big X” Vingegaard obviously belongs there, but he doesn’t dominate anything and unlike Pogacar, Mathieu (we will see tomorrow if that is still the case) and Remco there isn’t a single race on the calendar where he would be the outright favorite to win if everyone is on the start line. Because Pog is better in all aspects.

So the fact Remco is one of very few guys that are the absolute best at anything should be to his credit and not being seen as a limitation.

My point is TTs are not important races per se. Nobody would care about Remco if he wasn't very good in hilly classics, stages races (overrated here but he still is a top 5-10 rider). For that reason I said Martin is not a big rider.
