"685" must be wrong, I don't think there's a kilometer with 13% average in this climb. Possibly it's "635" or something like that

Edit: but first ~1 1/2 km seem to be tough, about ~9% average

Uuumm, looks like the bottom 2 Ks of the final climb are tough. The second km averages 13%, followed by a km at 2% and a final km of 6%.

Two places to launch a winning attack; on the steep ramp, or right at the end, if those going "early" misjudge their effort.

Who dares, wins.

(unless Search has discovered a map error)

Precise profile of final climb. Without last steep sector.
Do you have the profile of the other climb as well? According to the Rabo DS, it's the toughest climb of yesterday's stage.

Dennis van Winden said that the thoughest climb of yesterday is the one that is being repeated a lot of times today. And it's actually thougher than the 4% than Mellow Velo calculated :p and ofcourse the end climb which is a lot thougher even.

Nice stage again. Watched the last 40 minutes. Poor Marcato.. damn. Really odd. Vacansoleil really showing themselves again. Would've liked to see Marcato attacking a lap later then he did now :)

I missed the live but feel so sorry for the guy.

Funny thing is that this is the second time this year Vacansoleil does this exact mistake. Lieuwe Westra did it in Tour of Oman this year, although that one was even more stupid as he actually thought he won a bunch sprint while no one else were even sprinting :D

Well that will teach him to be more smart about his racing!:D;) He'll have plenty more chances.

Actually checking on the site, the stage tonight finishes at 2:45am so I will get up at 2am to watch it.

It will be good for once that the euros willl have to get up early to watch the worlds live. You may even see me at the worlds.:) The americans will be in the position that the aussies are in when watching the cycling europe from a timezone perspective.

I just went by what was on at the eurosport site and an online timezone converter, so it is likely I'm a bit off ;)

But a bit off-topic, is it already known at what time the worlds are? For it would be likely that the timing is such that it is also convenient for Europe, as this is still probably the largest commercial market for cycling. So I would expect them to do the same as they do with football and the Olympics, try to get it in such a timeslot that it is not too inconvenient for Europe

I think it was something like 6-10am CET, but I'm not 100% sure.

I see what you mean now.
That's the problem with searching for stage reports and reading them. I tend to mix after race comments up. Linking them to the wrong persons indeed :(

Van Winden used to have a blog, but it disappeared. Now he's started blogging on other riders' websites :p
