Is there emerging a Sidi advert curse.

Dertie Cont does an advert and gets busted.

Basso does an advert and gets ill. I worry for Nibs

Pozzato does a porno/advert - sucks and is dropped by Katusha from the Giro.

Didn't Bettini do one as well and then end up getting linked to various drug rings?

Here's hoping Frodo becomes the face of Sidi.

Just noting that appearing in a Sidi advert is bad for your career prospects as bad things keep on happening to the 'stars' involved.

Not really, the doping fact is a side issue. (if a mod thinks this is 'clinic' material rather than a general discussion about a Sidi curse then fine). I am more concerned about the dangers in general of appearing in Sidi adverts. Much like appearing on the cover of Madden games is bad luck for the players involved. Michael Vick got busted for dog fighting etc

Since taking his clothes off and oiling himself up like nobodies business, Pozzato's form has gone to the dogs - ending up with him being dropped from the Giro squad.

Basso does one and gets ill. As I say, I don't have high hopes for Nibs. I certainly don't fancy his chances.

Don't cry now big man. No one is forcing you to engage with it. It was meant to be a lighthearted thread about Sidi adverts and bad luck. No need to get your knickers in a twist. If no one else is interested then it'll drop down the board. You replying to it only brings it back up to the top. Which is a bit self-defeating on your part.

BTW when were you appointed a mod to tell people what they can or can not discuss? I must have missed that meeting.

2009: Contador - Won the Tour, Pais Vasco, Algarve, Velo d'Or
Sanchez - 2nd in Vuelta, 2nd Lombardy, 3rd Pais Vasco
Absalon - winner of the World Cup (4 wins), 2nd World Champs

2010: Contador - Won the Tour, Paris-Nice, Algarve, Castille & Leon. Failed dope test
Pozzato - Giro stage win, 4th at the Worlds, 7th Paris-Roubaix. Standard stuff for him

2011: Nibali - 5th Tirreno A, 8th MSR, 8th LBL
Basso - 4th Tirreno A


So far it looks a lot more ups than downs to me. It's hardly rivalling the 1992 Nike curse.

I think the Schleck problem could well be genetic--so that one may actually be related to being called Schleck.

Another positive thread pieced together out of nothing. Cycling fans really can't complain about media coverage dragging down the sport when some fans choose to do it on a daily basis. Would the world have been a more positive place without this, and some angry comments that have posted? Mine would.

There are two televised races today, and an epic Giro just around the corner. Why not let the negative stories come out of the media for a while?

i can't made a proper answer without mention the fact that every professional sport that relies in stamina and endurance is full of dopers since the juniors (and this is just understandable, even if ethically wrong) . so i won't mention that. sorry mods.
