On Saturday, the Vuelta will finish at La Farrapona. On one of the previous stages here, in 2014, two riders were disqualified. Who are they and what did they do to get kicked out of the race?

Well, they were kicked out for fighting, on their bikes, which is never a good look.
I'm pretty sure one of them was Brambilla (riding for QS at the time), and I think the other was Tinkoff guy... Poljanski?

Okay, I'll admit I cheated a little bit and looked up which riders where even on Tinkoff in 2014 (because I'm 99% sure it was a Tinkoff rider involved).
Rovny?

Okay, to stay with the subject of fighting.

What was Carlos Barredo's weapon of choice when he... err... expressed his displeasure with Rui Costa's riding after a stage of the 2010 Tour de France?

I think he was czech? I swear I've seen the video of him celebrating, but I don't follow age group cyclocross

Michael Boroš is 33 and therefore not the answer. The rider we are looking for currently rides for a ProTeam.

Since the introduction of the ProTour in 2005, teams have had to be in the top two tiers of professional cycling to be eligible to ride a Grand Tour.

The Giro takes place before the national championships, otherwise this year Filippo Conca would have become the first Italian champion to be ineligible to ride his home Grand Tour due to his team's status.

There have, however, been three previous occasions since 2005 where a Grand Tour has started without the national champion due to their teams being ineligible.

Who were the three national champions, and which teams did they ride for?

Not La Pomme Marseille either.

You are correct that the other Frenchman you have in mind was riding for Auber, though.
