That was my response too . Odie is a little too thin and I'm trying to bulk him up but he just runs and runs! Most labs I see tend to be rather heavy.

Walking dogs I'm always aware of those who have lost their friends , Friday I popped by a good friend who had just had to say goodbye to his dear border terrier , today seeing him he invited me and Odie to his home to donate his dogs uneaten food . There was so much , that will hep build Odie up!

My Lab ran for at least an hour every day so she was ripped. I had several people with labs that were too heavy (as were they) tell me that I should feed her more.

Thank you . People often find it easier to give advice to others rather than follow such guidance themselves . I see so many overweight dogs but would never tell others what to do. My perception of 'thin' differs to others too , I'm proud if I may see definition of my ribs.
Today bumped into another 'new' breed to add to my list, a young portuegese water spaniel which looked very much like a labradoodle.

So what's in a name? Even though Odie was not the name I gave my dog I like it .It suits well , short unpretentious yet unlike other dogs names I see. Many of the dogs I meet share the same popular names however here is a short list of those favourites in my area . If only everyone had as much imagination.
Angel,Boo,Brock,Jet,Legs,Luna,Nala,No Name,Raven,Reiver,Secret,Taff

+ Once again seasonal greetings to everyone.

What a nice picture, happy and safe holidays to you and Odie too!

I love the 'No Name' name for the dog! :tearsofjoy: And Odie is nice and very original, haven't heard that name before. Tandy's original name before my adoption was Brandy, but I thought Brandy is too common and I don't really like the name for a dog (don't like the drink either), so I came up with Tandy because Tandy is kinda close to Brandy if you squint really hard. Plus our prior dog was Toby, so I was sticking with the T-names... it didn't even occur to me that there was an electronics store named Tandy because in my area RadioShack was more common. At least Tandy is a better dog name than RadioShack though! :D

Radio Shack , where art though Radio Shack? would have people puzzled . Checking, here in the UK the 1st Tandy store opened in 1973 the company went on to become Radio Shack in 2000.
Your dog will easily adjust to her new rhyming name . Here I see a cocker spaniel called Jarvis (Jarvis Cocker the singer)
Another dog walker walks a Lurcher called Henry then named her 2nd lurcher Lenny without thinking of calling them both back 'Lenny Henry!' These are the lurchers that growl at Odie , their friend describes Lenny as a psycho!

I know some people who have named their last three Lab mutts Odin. I haven't heard them call their dogs Odie, but other people do. The current Odin is a a Lab, Vizsla mix. The previous one was a Lab, Siberian Husky, and the first Odin was a Lab, Golden retriever.

I've never heard anyone call their dog Odin (or Odie), interesting that it's common in Idaho and the UK but has somehow bypassed Eugene. (Or it hasn't and I just merrily live under a rock. :D)

How's Buddy doing?

Odie is the 1st dog here with such a name, I did consider updating his name to the mythical Odin but did not hearing how well Odie responds to his name.
And another Xmas card this one for a young beagle in our street Wallace.

Buddy is good! The vet told us that we should consider having some dental work done though.
What type of dental work? Just cleaning, or something more substantial?

I know they've really expanded the field of canine dentistry, but I wouldn't spend money on it unless it was truly necessary, like a painful/infected tooth or something.

Another nice drawing, well done!

We have a dog named Sherlock in the neighborhood, I like that name for a dog. He's a very friendly pooch, both to Tandy and to me.

Mostly cleaning, but he has some gum issues too. Its expensive, and I even though I know it's a really solid science, anesthesia makes me nervous (unless I'm getting a colonoscopy, then put me out!).

I had a real issue with downing that nasty drink prior to the colonoscopy (in this thread we discuss everything! 🤣), and then not being able to ingest anything prior to the procedure except for Sprite because I hate jello and broth whether they're clear or not. Ugh, Calgon, take me away!

Does Buddy have gingivitis, or even the later periodontal disease?

Tandy just went to the vet for her annual exam + vaccinations and vet said her teeth look really good right now, but that I need to incorporate some tooth brushing into her routine. Tandy keeps her molars pretty clean with the dental dog chews I give her, but vet said I still need to brush her fronts. Sure, Tandy is young and her teeth are still great, but that kind of preventative canine dental care I can at least agree with!

P.S. They don't have Elvis, but I feel like adding this because I see a version of it at my dentist's office: "Remember, preventative care is the best care!"
