Vanendert, and in fact many of the young French guys did admirable this year.

Let's hope they can carry it over past this TdF tho.

Rolland is an obvious pick. I knew he had some talent after he had a very good Dauphine in 2008... And 2 years ago he had a 20th or so (although it was largely invisible) in the Tour as well. It's just finally come out fully.

I trust a guy who matures gradually. It makes it seem less likely that he's just peaked earlier than the other guys.

Finds: Rolland/Vanendert were under my radar prior to le Tour. EBH "reborn".

But for me Voeckler was the big surprise. With each ascent I anticipated his "demise" and he just kept going. Ab..so...bloody..lutely awesome! A "new" GC'er!

Vanendert would be my second pick after Rolland. Although he did fade a little towards the end.

Richie Porte also looks like a name for the future. Good in the mountains and great in the tt.

Is this a trolling comment? Porte was at the base of Luz Ardiden and then wasn't seen again until stage Stage 20.

Jelle Vanendert.

btw, for all the hype about new French gc hope, ill say that the next French GT winner may be in the peloton, but he did not finish the Tour.

disagree.
rolland is a better prospect imo. Youth on his side. He actually isn't a huge surprise he has had hype around him for a long time, but hasn't delivered much.
As good as Gadret was at the giro, I can't see him ever winning a GT or doing much better.
