My guess is that he would wear the Alpecin kit, because that's the kit he has, and he has to wear something.

CX not only improves your bike handling, it also allows you to change time and move into alternate dimensions. Mathieu van der Poel was never injured this summer after the Olympics, he was just battling Wout van Aert in that other alternate universe.

I don't think you really need a CX contract to ride CX races, Dillier for example did it already in the past when he was with BMC and it isn't an unicum, especially in France there are plenty of riders that do that at least a couple of times in the winter but also Aru last year, Meurisse, Trentin, Greipel, Kwiatkowski just to cite some, Haussler even rides in World Cup races.

Haussler even qualified for World's, and didn't embarass himself either

Considering that it was unclear at the time what state TBE would be in next year, and since they didn't announce the extension right away to end the speculation, it wasn't really an outrageous thought though. She wouldn't have been the first seemingly happy rider to jump ship when a possibly better opportunity came around either.

TBE now have 12 riders on contract for next year with Williams and Tenniglo being the only ones from the current roster with uncertain futures. Meanwhile UAE and Ceratizit-WNT have a total of two confirmed riders for next year. EF-TIBCO-SVB hasn't announced their full team yet either, but it seems to be a badly kept secret at this point.

Except the suggested better opportunity was at her rebadged old team she'd left the year before - You only have to look at at her old team's roster to see she would not receive the same chances as she would at TBE - She's a chance to ride the TDF and she was also very appreciative of the team, giving her a lighter racing program, so she could care for her ailing mother Finally the BEX team was always continuing.

Anyway expect one more renewal in both the men's and the women's team in the next two days - Seems like the Giro and Bex are competing to see who can drag out announcements via twitter.

The rumours were there even before we knew whether there would even be a team, when it would be created or if it would to be a completely new team or not. Sure there were good reasons for her to re-sign, which she ultimately did, but it's not like a transfer wouldn't have made sense either (at least in theory). Of course she made the choice to leave ALE last year, possibly because of the changes after the merger between the two original teams, but I assume things might be different again next season. Also ALE isn't really stacked with young talent either, so unless they pick up some new names, I'm sure she would be able to get her own chances.
The initial idea of her staying for another year before she makes the switch is obviously still on the table.


Some people are dragging out, while Cofidis WE on the other hand decided to do it all at once, with one addition later on.

Riders don't have to qualify for the Worlds, it's the nation coach that select riders based on how many spots the nation has, theoretically he could select anyone like in the road Worlds. For example Italian coach last year selected Aru for PR reasons despite being plenty of riders better than him and there was a so big uproar that Aru has to come out with an excuse to leave the spot to someone else, not to mention Stybar that went straight to the Worlds without riding a single race before, not even at national level. Anyway Australia probably just didn't have anyone else good enough to be selected or able to ride at all, last year I don't even remember seeing other Australian riders in any result sheet or races held in Australia.

The Australian cyclocross calendar has been decimated by COVID - Barely a race in two years and no National Championship - Combine this with riders being denied permission to leave Australia, to compete overseas makes for grim reading.

Trym Westgaard Holther, the Norwegian MJ TT NC is turning pro with Drone Hopper Androni.

They have also signed the Colombian Didier Merchan, who will have the Vuelta a Tachira as his first race for them.

He's 22 years old and this year he won the Giro del medio Brenta and the Vuelta a Antioquia, he finished 2nd on the gc and first on the KoM classification in the u23 Vuelta a Colombia and 15th on the gc in the Adriatica-Ionica Race. Last year he was also 3rd overall in the Clasico RCN, 28sec behind the winner Tito Hernandez and only 7sec behind Oscar Sevilla. 2 years ago he won the uphill ITT in the Clasico ahead of Sevilla.
He has raced a fair bit in Italy this year, so he should adapt rather quickly.
