Bilbao will stay with Bahrain until 2026. Hopefully he'll then finish off his career with a season or two at Euskaltel.

I know the current team has the same name and sponsor of the mythical Basque team who folded after 2013. but tbf they are nowhere near to some strong pro-conti team, let alone the old Euskaltel.
is a name enough to get the hype?I mean, it's like T-Mobile came back and became Novo-Nordisk new sponsor. struggling

The team has not retuned to its glory days, and it's quite likely it never will, which is a shame, but also a sign that there's probably no longer an everything goes approach towards "nutrition".

But I still hope for a Vuelta stage win in the future, and that some from the old band will rejoin the team. I had hoped Nieve had been the first to return, but that didn't happen. Landa has already been involved in the revival, so I expect him to play a future role. Whether it'll be on or off the bike remains to be seen.

I understand. problem is they are not even racing the Vuelta, didn't get a wild card this year. Landa could get there 2 years from now, and will be like Sagan at TotalEnergies (even though I wish he'll do better once he signs for Euskaltel)

If Landa no longer has the level to get results of his own, he can still be a mentor to the younger riders. He's not going to be doing it for the money either like Sagan.

Bernal offered to Movistar
Interesting that INEOS is reported to be undergoing a "decapitalization." I'm not sure how reliable Google translation is, but that's the first report I've seen that INEOS may have slashed its rider budget. That would explain the reported outflow of so many talented riders this off season. I otherwise find it difficult to explain why INEOS would let Rodriguez escape to Movistar (recognizing he has agency and might prefer to ride for a Spanish team), Tulett, Sivakov, Tao, Martinez, et al. And I don't what to make of the report of "offering" Bernal to Movistar. I guess the offer was that the team would release Egan from his deal to sign with Movistar? I can't imagine Egan would want to reset his contract to his current market rate though.

Egan is represented by Acquadro (as is Rodriguez and Dani Martínez, who are also leaving Ineos, reportedly, and Carapaz and Amador, who left this year). Could be the case of the agent having his ties with Ineos severed (as was the case with Movistar a couple of years ago) and tries now to get a bigger commission for himself.

His remaining ties with Ineos are Fraile (who I believe will extend but should't have a market as big as the others) and Kwiato (who has a contract until the end of 2025 and whom I see finishing his career with Ineos).

Apart from the name, this team doesn't really have anything to do with the old one, does it?
