Online publication Portuguese Cycling Magazine stated a few minutes ago that the news that came out today on the newspaper about that are reportedly not true (yet), according to a source close to the rider.

This confuses me, I got it from O Jogo (can't read the entire article due to paywall). I presume you can, as a Portuguese? Do they mention Portuguese Cycling Magazine as a source in the article, is it part of O Jogo? Or does the magazine contradict the news brought by O Jogo? Article in question:

That article was the original, posted this morning. Minutes ago Portuguese Cycling Magazine posted something saying that according to a person closer to the rider, that article is not true. I assume the untrue part is about the move being already a done deal, which O Jogo says.

I take with a grain of salt all that comes in the portuguese mainstream media. A few days ago another of the portuguese sports newspapers (A Bola) said something like "portuguese federation has a shortlist of +70 riders for Glasgow World Championships". What was the shortlist? The number of portuguese riders registered with a team on the UCI website.

Archie Ryan is a bit of a mercurial talent, maybe the best climber they have on the Jumbo development team but also sidelined quite often with knee pain. This year he hasn't even raced at all. I think Jumbo didn't dare to take the gamble, and Vaughters apparently does.

That makes a certain amount of sense from the perspective of both teams. A big climbing talent reaching his full potential is transformative for EF, much less so for Jumbo. And a rider who is constantly injured and never reaches his potential occupying a roster spot isn’t a big problem for EF in the way it is for a team trying to win all three GTs.

The guy has already won a mountain stage with the pros, so even a ”mixed” outcome, where he is sporadically very good but unreliable and injury prone is on balance a pretty good return for EF. That would be better than quite a few riders on their roster. He’s just a more rational bet for a smaller team.

Not to mention Jumbo actually signed a lot of young riders this year, so they're really turning over young riders looking for top talent.

EF seems like the #1 team for other hand-me-downs with potential.

With Politt likely to leave Bora, I guess he could be a pretty good replacement for him?! Although a team like Ineos could be a good fit as well maybe.

Yeah he won't win things and won't play a role in the hillier cobbled classics (they have Matthews for that if he rides them), but he will net Jayco an extra 800ish UCI points probably. Good transfer as Jayco is always miles behind after April. There always a bit of pressure on them to perform in the GTs because of that (which they did this year).

should be a good fit as well, yeah. I was thinking about Ineos because they have a bit of an ITT focus, but that also applies for Jayco of course. Working with Pinotti, he can improve in that discipline, as well as getting some results in the flat classics.

Politt is such a rider that every team would love to have on their squad. Damn he's good, and he ain't afraid of taking some wind! if i were a GC-rider, its close between him and Van Hoydonck.


Cavagna to Movistar is interesting, he's Pollitt without the pedigree in the cobbled classics.

Marca seems to believe that Markel Beloki (yes, indeed, the son of the LEGENDARY Joseba) has signed with EF until 2026. Apparently quite the talent, and he will line up for Spain in the junior races at the WC to get a glimpse of him.

Difficult to say. But I guess they figured if they tried to get him to their Devo team, he would choose a different devo team with a better budget and/or track record.
