So 4th confirmed rider to leave EF.

0 confirmed incoming riders or even contract extensions since the beginning of the year IIRC.

Are they so broke they're signing pay-to-ride riders now?

Fun fact: he has two top-10s in pro races in his career, one in the Dutch TT NC and one in the Polish one.

Short answer, absolutely yes.

But I hope his millionaire daddy at least brings in more than just paying for his own son to ride at the team

Mathieu Kockelmann to Lotto (devo) as well. Fell off a cliff at Kern-Haus, like pretty much every Auto Eder alumnus, but the talent is there.

Came as surprise to me when I read it on Wielerflits, but makes sense. Was in a Belgian team already as a first year junior, and he needs a different environment.

Regarding Lotto, also heard the name of Reuben Thompson, who... well... also fell of a cliff the last 2 years. No real confirmation yet about this one tho.

Doesn't EF always do this? They just don't announce till late. Mikhels is coming, Max Walker too and there is the Asgreen rumor.

What's strange is, both only extended their contract for one year.
Given how young both of them are and the potential I would sign them for more then one year.

With Niedermaier, you could have though it had something to do with the 2026 Winter Olympics and her not being completely sure what her future will look like afterwards, but that obviously isn't the case for Bauernfeind.

There are of course multiple other explanations. Maybe the riders and/or team want to keep their options open. Perhaps the team isn't sure of the size of their budget after next season. Maybe the riders have become big fans/haters of Magnus Bäckstedt and want to wait and see how things are going to go from now on before they commit themselves for longer.

No.

They may have often been late with announcing the last few spots on the team but they would've always had announced something earlier.

Last year they already confirmed Rafferty's signing in July and Healy's extension in June.

Carapaz in 2022 confirmed in August.

Rutsch in 2019 confirmed in June already.

Plenty of other examples, especially contract extensions with important riders would've often been announced before August.

Today's random transfer:

Guess they have to have one random non-Spanish guy on their team.
I haven't read anything about it, but as the partnership with Global 6 didn't really work out (no training camp, no bikes for a while, hardly any races), I guess some sponsorship money from Luxembourg may be moved over to Kern.

Are we sure it's Danny?
Because Axel would actually make more sense.

I was hoping this when i first heard it when now that Wielerflits also brought it and they also say it's Danny I fear it's actually him. Its pretty simple Lotto is on fumes, they are completely broke. They can't even keep relatively cheap riders like Currie or Paasschens lmao and have to replace them with pay to ride riders. Who knows, maybe Axel is coming too, but haven't heard that yet.

Benson says Luke Rowe is going to Decathlon as a DS.

What the hell is going on at Ineos?

Dunno what is going on at Ineos, but AG2R getting an English speaking DS seems like an indicator that they're moving away from being a French speaking team only.

Also a team with eventual GC aspirations, as they're hiring a guy who has been on five TdF winning teams.

I don't know if he's going to be a genius tactically (I expect he'll be quite conservative, given the team he's spent his entire career in) but as a person he seems really good to have around. Knows how to win, very professional, hard working etc.

Bit unfair to dislike a guy because he might be related to some other guy you don't like.

It would have been warranted in this case, but I don't think there's any relation between the two. Mats's father is called Pascal, and René only seems to have an American daughter.

Could be aunt's cousin-third-removed's nephew's son or something like that.

But I still don't think it would have been warranted.
Just to be clear; not even someone being the child of Michael Rasmussen would make disliking them warranted.

I changed my mind. Just him being called Wenzel will turn me against him, whether or not there is a relation.
