What a seriously talented team Sport Vlaanderen have assembled for next year. Impressive.

This is also not looking good for Axeons future. Guess they will indeed fold after this year as time is running out.

Kevin Colleoni to MS confirmed.

Mitchelton-Scott announced on Monday that Italian youngsters Arianna Fidanza and Kevin Colleoni will join the squad on two-year deals.

Fidanza, 25, comes aboard from Lotto-Soudal, and she will likely slot in as a contributor in the Classics at Mitchelton-Scott.

Colleoni, 20, rode to third at the under-23 Giro Ciclistico d’Italia this season. He was expected to continue with Androni Giocattoli Sidermec, but according to Mitchelton, he “was acquired by mutual agreement” with the Italian ProTeam.

Serge Pauwels finishes his career

There's a specific topic for retirements.

Serge Pauwels ends his carreer at almost 37. His best results are:
  • a Giro stage win (a kind of dramatic one, because he got crossed by his own team's weird tactical decisions, but got the win later on because Bertagnolli was suspended)
  • a 13th place in the Tour de France GC
  • a stage + overall victory in Yorkshire.
He was GVA's roommate and a strong domestique during the Olympic race in 2016, and he ends now as his teammate at CCC's. The team disbanding, him having had recent health issues + a lack of results and of course his age are the reasons for his retirement from active pro sports.

Very likeable and intelligent guy, who will have no trouble finding new opportunities and challenges. If he can choose it, he stays close to cycling. His wife (who is very pretty, lucky Serge) is also an ex-rider and does some media stuff in cycling these days.

So EF already lost 5 riders.

That means they will need to sign at least two new riders unless UCI will lower the minimum number of riders in the team which has been 27 for WT teams.

Maybe they'll announce some new riders in January or somewhen.

With CCC and NTT folding in all likelihood, there is a lot of decent talent available which is getting cheaper by the day. Guys like Valgren, Gogl, King, Dyball, Bevin, Hirt, Rosskopf and Wisnowski would all be good signings for their GC or classics department and can probably be gotten on a low wage.

I thought the minimum for WT teams was 25.

It used to be lower than 27 (I don't remeber if it was 25 or else) but for 2020 it was raised to 27.

So they are literally requiring teams to have between 27 and 30 riders. That is really stupid. Yes there is a max of 30 riders.
